What is your style? Describe it.
My style is very contrasted, as much as I love produc-ing very luminous images, I love shooting dark and mysterious photos. I am a chameleon, I like to adapt and create according to my subject. I let the inspiration of the moment guide my style. Some might say that not having a signature style is a downfall, I actually think of it as being a positive aspect and make it my own style.
What is your process? Describe your treatments.
I generally use VSCO to color-treat most of my pic-tures but, once again, I adapt my coloration process to the project. I might do a generic color correction on a shoot as I might use a crazy blend of colors to make my shadows and highlight pop. It’s always a sur-prise with me, every project is different, every project is unique and every project is inspired by something different every time.
How do you make a living off your work, or do you? Is there someone who supports you?
I do my best to make a living essentially off photography. Unfortunately I am not com-pletely at that point but getting closer to it. In order to do that, I’m involved in many different spheres of photography such as portraiture, fashion and especially dance photography that actually brings me to trav-el around the world. I have to balance this great passion with teaching dance classes and working events during the months of winter to make a living for myself. Overall, photography remains my main source of in-
come but I am very lucky to have been supported by my family through it all.
What inspires you for a shoot? Why?
As an artist, I cannot limit myself to a main source of inspiration, I have to stay open-minded to create at my best potential. To me, anything can inspire me, an ob-ject, a fabric, a specific model/person, a song, etc… For example, the series that got chosen for a publica-tion was all inspired by snakes. I saw those beautiful animals and decided to create images showcasing these mysterious creatures.
Do you plan the entire shoot concept, or have help?
Most of the time I create and build the core of each project, I am a leader in my personality but, I love working together with my team so, they always give me precious input that helps bring the project to high-er level. Who do you look up to in the industry? Why?
Portrait-wise, I look up to Michael Miller and Esteban Oriol for their raw and authentic imagery. The always manage to show us the hidden face of some of the most renowned celebrities. They manage to make us discover those face we know so well and have seen forever. I really hope my portraits will live up to those standards one day. Fashion-wise, some of the Mon-treal based photographers inspire me on a daily ba-sis. Richard Bernardin, Max Abadian, Mathieu Fortin and Leda & Saint-Jacques all have very unique styles. I admire the finesse with which they shoot, the col-or-treatment they use and their infinite new concepts.
