Den du frygterFear Me Not
Kristian Levring, 2008When Michael hears about a clinical trial for a new anti-depressant, he signs up on a whim. Unfortunately the pills turn out
to have serious side effects and the trial is abandoned. Michael refuses to give up his new-found sense of calmness and self
control which the pills have provided, so he decides to continue the experiment on his own. Intoxicated by his immediate success,
Michael feels an urge to take control of other people’s lives as well. Slowly, his
psychological games grow more drastic, until he makes a discovery which forces him to view his actions in a terrifying new light.

Valhalla Sub-Committee ReportThe Valhalla Sub-Committee is due to meet at the
end of this month so I will have a full report in the next newsletter. However although we meet only 4 times a year the work being carried out each month is still in full force, despite the winter months which can curtail some of our plans.
BookingsDue to illness or unforeseen circumstances we have
had quite a number of late cancellations. All have been very genuine (beyond their control) reasons, but it has meant the house has been empty more than usual during the weekends over the past few months. However the house is still well utilised with occupancy and income up on last year.
The Google calendar is working well for those wishing to book Valhalla. It is updated on a Sunday morning when I do the Valhalla bookings so what you see is up to date.
I have had to chase a few pencil bookings of late for those that book and then forget to send their deposit. This can be time consuming and I would prefer not to have to do this. Please pay your deposit within a month of booking to ensure you do not lose your booking.
PurchasesWe have purchased a new vacuum cleaner for
Valhalla. It is a Nilfisk industrial one that should cope much better than the old one we had up there.
Contact meIt is a toll-free phone call from Valhalla. So if there is
anything amiss call me immediately so I can get onto it without delay.
Projects currently on the go: ✱ Reforestation: With Palle away Erik has been
managing this project and in July a small informal working bee got stuck into this project with well over 850 plants being planted in predetermined areas – a great effort.
✱ Pa Beach Steps: Unfortunately due to manpower and then illness this project has not been started as early as hoped, but we plan to begin this during the September working bee.
✱ Water Reticulation: I will have more to report on this after our next Sub-committee meeting.
✱ Children’s Playground: This Fort is really taking shape now with the swings and slide in place – see photo below. Now the border of the playground is being planned to include the trampoline and we intend to put Astra turf down for surface of the playground.
✱ Viewing Deck: Still a job in process and expected to be completed for the summer months.
✱ Car Park extension: Still a job in process, close to completion.

Valhalla News - August 2009
Danish Society News Magazine ● September 20096
The 15th August saw the hall full of international dancers at the 2009 Winter Warm-Up. 14 different dance groups gave every one there a chance to try different types of dances, with a wide variety of costumes, dances and levels of skill displayed.
The Danish Dancers provided the supper and provided an item. All the dancers contributed, but we would particularly like to thank Frank Brokeman for
literally stepping in at the last moment, and proving once again his skill and knowledge of Danish Folk Dancing.
But in particular Lene Scott, who came down from Whangarei and spent the day in the kitchen helping us to prepare the food and the evening helping us serve it.Finn Nielsen

Winter Warm-Up 2009
September 2009 ● Danish Society News Magazine 7
We were lucky to have a fine weekend for our working bee. Saturday and Sunday an enthusiastic team worked very hard. Tove, Neil, Gary and Neville continued work on the new viewing platform, which looks great. Graham managed to do plenty of spraying
and planting with the help of Pam and Richard. Antony and John just about completed the new children’s area. This is looking good. A good crew in the kitchen headed by Vibeke supplied great meals. Thanks to all.Erik
We need your help!at the next Valhalla Working Bees12th-13th September17th-18th October14th-15th NovemberWe are seeking your support to carry out a whole range of jobs.
