Classification There are two species of panda:

Ailuropoda melanoleuca melanoleuca

It is black and white and lives in Sichuan

Ailuropoda melanoleuca qinlingensis

It is dark and light brown and lives in Quinling

Diet

• Giant panda is herbivorous and eats bamboo

• Pandas can’t digest the cellulose of bamboo, so they have to eat so much

• The bamboo has a little proteins, so it is important that they keep their digestive tract full.
