Waleed Abouraya (Middle East Business Promotion Center)

Waleed is President and CEO of MEBPC Cairo, a supplier of solid fuels to the Egyptian market. Since 1986 he has been actively involved in project development, mainly related to coal and petcoke supply. Waleed is also President and CEO of RGS Egypt Ltd. (anthracite coal screening plant) and a member of the Federation of Egyptian Industries. His new venture with Garcia Munte Energia to supply the Egyptian market was the fi rst to supply a steam coal cargo in Egypt in May 2014, and today is one of the largest suppliers of solid fuels to cement plants in Egypt.

Vashdev Arthur (Jacobs Consultancy)

Vashdev is a contributing author of the Pace Petroleum Coke Quarterly© and the Calcined Petroleum Coke Report. His other responsibilities include developing and maintaining petroleum coke and coal tar pitch databases, and contributing articles to our Petroleum Coke News Update. Additionally, he provides support for petroleum-coke–related single-client assignments.

Yasmin Brown (Jacobs Consultancy)

As a Group Manager in Jacobs Consultancy’s Carbon Group, Yasmin leads the non-fuel carbon practice. Her 20+-year career with Jacobs has included roles of increasing responsibility in Process Engineering, Project Management, and Quality Management for major lines of business including Pharmaceuticals, Foods, and Specialty Chemicals.

For the past 12 years, Yasmin has attained expertise in green and calcined petroleum coke, coal tar pitch, and other specialty carbon markets. She has broadened her knowledge-base in refi ning, bunker fuels, biofuels, and other aspects of the Petroleum and Chemicals sectors.

Mike Chinoy (University of Southern California)

Mike is a Senior Fellow at the US–China Institute at the University of Southern California. Previously, Mike spent three years as a Senior Fellow at the Los Angeles-based Pacifi c Council on International Policy, focusing on security issues in North Korea, China, and Northeast Asia. Before joining the Pacifi c Council and USC in 2006, he spent 24 years as a foreign correspondent for CNN.

Mike is the author of the acclaimed book China Live: People Power and the Television Revolution, and has received numerous awards for his journalism, including the Emmy, Peabody and DuPont awards for his coverage of the 1989 Tiananmen Square crisis, and a DuPont Award for his coverage of the tsunami.

Dawn Constantin (BP Energy Company)

Dawn is the VP of Marketing & Fundamentals at BP Energy Company, and has 20 years’ experience in the energy industry, primarily focused on analytics and infl uencing corporate planning and strategy. Her marketing team is responsible for the planning and execution of programs that position BP Energy Company as a dynamic and trusted counterparty while also promoting customer excellence. Her Analytics team is responsible for generating long-term views on North American energy markets.

John Gieseman (Jacobs Consultancy)

John has led a number of studies in the refi ning, petrochemical, power, midstream, and upstream oil and gas areas. He has over 30 years’ experience in the refi ning and petrochemicals industries, with a strong background in management and business development. Before joining Jacobs Consultancy in 2008, John was the Director of Lummus Technology’s Refi ning Business Group, where he was responsible for the research and development, engineering, and sales of Lummus’ refi ning technologies. For 14 years he worked in various research and development, technical service, and consulting positions for UOP in many locations throughout the world.

S. Mohanty (Reliance Industries)

Mr. Mohanty is the Sr. Vice President & Business Head for Petcoke, Sulfur, Bulk HSD, Furnace Oil & Carbon Black Feed Stock (CBFS) at Reliance Industries, Mumbai, India. His key responsibilities include driving P&L for the SBU, having a traded volume of over 8 million tpa and with a sales turnover of about US$1 billion per annum. He has over 25 years of multi-functional experience in the areas of Sales, Marketing, Project Management, and heading Global businesses across industries (i.e., FMCG, Petro-Retail, Aviation Fuel & B2B products).

Les Edwards (Rain CII Carbon)

Les Edwards is Chief Technology Offi cer at Rain CII Carbon, one of the world’s leading producers of calcined petroleum coke. He has been with Rain CII since 1998 but has worked in the carbon and aluminum industries now for over 25 years.

He is an active contributor to industry conferences and has published over 20 technical papers related to calcined petroleum coke use in the aluminum industry.

Saleh Ahmed Rabbaa (EGA Jebel Ali, DUBAL)

Saleh is the Vice President of Carbon & Port for Jebel Ali Operations of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA). He has 21 years of expertise in anode technology, the management of Anode Manufacturing Plant and Port Operations, as well as expansion projects. Continual productivity improvement without sacrifi cing quality has been his key driver and contributed to the successful journey of EGA Jebel Ali’s Carbon Plant. He has demonstrated his leadership through a signifi cant increase in plant productivity over the last decade and successful upgrades and operation excellence at Carbon & Port to support expansions and capacity creep in the smelter. He has co-authored more than ten technical papers.

Marty Dillon (Lhoist North America)

Martin (Marty) is a Flue Gas Treatment Specialist at Lhoist North America. He brings over 10 years of experience in the air pollution control industry, and has worked in a number of areas including: project management, product development, and multi-pollutant mitigation for electric utility and industrial processes. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Colorado and a Master’s in Engineering from Old Dominion University, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado.

Thomas Springer (Biehl & Co.)

Thomas is CEO and Managing Director of Biehl & Co., a full-service steamship agency offering dry bulk, tanker, and additional cargo services to customers worldwide. In addition to chartering and vessel operations experience with a shipping owner in Hamburg, Germany, Thomas also held a position as a Sales and Purchase broker prior to moving to Panama to gain experience with the agency business. Upon his return to Hamburg, he worked in ship fi nance, assisting the needs of a German vessel owner. Since moving back to Texas, Thomas has continued the family tradition of Biehl by becoming the fourth generation to take control of the company.

Askin Soyer (Solid Fuels Trader)

Askin graduated from Istanbul Technical University and continued to earn his MBA through the Istanbul University Industrial Management programme. Askin has been dealing with solid fuels for 15 years. His experience includes purchasing of solid fuels for cement plants and sourcing for distribution and trading of solid fuels. He worked for multinational cement companies such as Lafarge and Cimpor in Turkey. He joined Capex Group in 2010, and was responsible for all trading activities of Capex between 2014 and January 2016.

Charles (“Mickey”) Reeves (Jacobs Consultancy)

Mickey is a Vice President of Jacobs and the Managing Director of Jacobs Consultancy. He has more than 30 years’ experience in all facets of process engineering, project management, refi ning, economic analysis, operations planning, process units technology and selection, and product handling. He has provided consulting and management services to domestic and international refi ners; had led the process efforts for multiple projects; and possesses Middle East experience in Saudi Arabia and UAE. He was the lead process engineer for two projects that won the Joseph J. Jacobs Master Builder Award.

Mike Stewart (Jacobs Consultancy)

As Director of Jacobs Consultancy’s Carbon Group, Mike is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s petroleum coke work. This includes the fi rm’s ongoing publications—the Pace Petroleum Coke Quarterly and Calcined Petroleum Coke Report—as well as single-client fuel-grade and calcined petroleum coke studies. He joined Jacobs Consultancy in 2004.

Mike has nearly 40 years’ domestic and international experience in plant operations, strategic and operational planning, market planning and analysis, economic evaluations, and management of domestic and international projects in the oil, refi ning, and petrochemical industries. His positions have included manager for planning activities and studies associated with refi nery and petrochemical process plants.

Gerard Sweeney (Rain CII Carbon)

Gerard is President and Chief Executive Offi cer of Rain CII Carbon, a leading global producer of calcined petroleum coke. He has more than 25 years of experience with leaders in the industrial carbon industry, and over the last 15 years he has been instrumental in the global expansion of CPC production throughout Asia, especially China, India, and Kuwait. He sits on the board of Rain Commodities USA, Rain CII Carbon, and Rain Global Services.

Frank Wilson (Jacobs Consultancy)

Frank brings years of experience and in-depth knowledge of the petroleum, chemicals, and energy industries to Jacobs Consultancy’s Carbon Group. He is a contributing author of the Pace Petroleum Coke Quarterly and is involved with single-client studies of the global fuel-grade and anode-grade petroleum coke markets. Prior to joining Jacobs, he was a Petroleum Coke Marketing Manager for ExxonMobil.

Robert Tufts (Black Resource Services International)

Robert is a chemical engineer with over 30 years of experience in the refi ning industry. His strong operations focus is derived from the experience gained by supporting refi ning operations with both Suncor Energy at the Fort McMurray Upgrader and Sarnia Refi nery, and Husky Energy at the Lloydminster Upgrader. Prior to joining Black Resource Services International, Robert provided 27 years of consulting services to the upstream and downstream refi ning sectors, fi rst with KBC Advanced Technologies and then with I Cubed Energy Consulting. He is an industry-recognized expert in Delayed Coking.

Scott L. Wren (Wells Fargo Investment Institute)

Scott is the Managing Director and Senior Global Equity Strategist for Wells Fargo Investment Institute (WFII), an organization that provides global research and investment strategy advice to Wells Fargo’s Wealth, Brokerage, and Retirement (WBR) division. WBR has more than $1.6 trillion in assets under administration. With his knowledge of the fi nancial markets, he is often quoted in national media outlets including Reuters, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Associated Press, and The Wall Street Journal. He has appeared in interviews on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, Fox Business News, and Nightly Business Report.

Bernard Ziesmer (Jacobs Consultancy)

Ben is a Senior Consultant in the Carbon Group and leads Jacobs Consultancy’s fuel carbon practice. He specializes in providing technical and market consulting services to the refi ning, petrochemical, natural gas, and power industries. Ben is a key contributor to the Pace Petroleum Coke Quarterly, which has been published on a monthly basis since 1985.

Before joining Jacobs Consultancy, Ben was employed for 14 years by Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), where he was responsible for the technical evaluations and purchasing of fuels for NIPSCO’s power plants. He previously held various engineering and marketing positions at Nalco Chemical Company, Wisconsin Power & Light Company, and Babcock & Wilcox (B&W).

Michael J. Wrotniak (Aminco Resources)

Mike is CEO of Aminco Resources and is responsible for Aminco’s carbon manufacturing and trading activities. Since 1990 he has focused on expanding manufacturing opportunities in emerging markets.

Established in 1986, Aminco’s core focus is on supplying carbon materials as well as complementary products to the global primary aluminum and steel industries, and to technically support production of carbon products as well as to assist customers with optimizing product consumption. Aminco’s headquarters are in New York with offi ces in Zurich and Beijing.
