Agenda
Airport background
• Inaugurated in 1985
• In 2013 granted to a consortium (Invepar and Airports Companies South Africa)
• Largest airport in Latin America located in São Paulo – Brazil.• 362 check-in counters
• 77 boarding gates ( 6 - F code)
• 24 x 7 airport for all terminals
• One of the main hubs in Latin America
• In 2018 GRU Airport handled 42.2 million passengers
GRU airport challenges
Several radio communication systems operating simultaneously

The multi-technology environment resulted in a high interference causing:
• Intermittent disruption
• Lack of coverage with several blind spots
• Repeaters were added to cover blind spots causing even more interference

Radio communication interference
GRU airport challenges
• No general communication in the airport, causing:
- Reactions to emergency situations were severely slowed down
- Evacuations were very difficult and almost impossible to carry out quickly
• Leakage of information
• Lack of redundancy in radio communication systems
• High maintenance costs (OPEX)
GRU airport challenges
Mission-critical and radio communication system with airport-wide coverage:
- capable of handling all communication inside the airport
- and ready for airport expansions and yearly growth in passenger movement
Solution
Technology decision – Digital technology mandatory
