Computer Networking

Our dedicated teacher offers three distinct programs:

Computer Repair, Computer Networking &Video Game Design.

Video game design is great because you can make your imagination a reality.

Certification Preparation!! With an emphasis on the Arts, Communications, &

Information Systems area of the Minnesota Program of Study, students can focus on Information Systems by taking Computer Repair or Networking at DCALS. Computer repair students learn how to work on desktop and laptop computers, printers, and mobile devices on their way to prepare for the Comp TIA A+ certification exam. Networking students learn about routers, switches, servers, and how the Internet works while training for either the CCENT or CCNA certification exams.

Construction Trades Construction Trades or

Geometry in Construction Construction of a three-

bedroom house entirely built by students.

Basic construction from footings to finished building.

You will use the latest technology in construction.

Energy efficient construction techniques to build the house.

Skills and knowledge of carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing and finishing trades.

Blueprint reading and Construction Estimating.

Students build a house every year!

This home is a 3-bedroom, 2 full bath home with an open cathedral ceiling kitchen, dining and living space design.  It was sold in Rice Lake, WI!!

Food Industry CareersFood Industry Careers

• Food service safety and sanitation, equipment use and maintenance. Servsafe curriculum with assessment is offered.

• Food preparation- knife skills, meat cookery, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, desserts and more.

• Fast food, baking, catering, and quantity food preparation.

• Students participate in a bake sales, student-run restaurant and various catered events.

• Students participate in FCCLA-HERO, a student organization focusing on leadership skills in families, communities and careers.

• Projects include bake sales, pizza sales, Gingerbread Gallery, and May Day Tea.

• Students create a resume highlighting food service skills.

What is Fundamental Chef Training? Fundamental Chef Training is the ONLY high school culinary arts program which is approved by the American Culinary Federation (ACF).

We articulate with the following post-secondary culinary arts programs:

Why should I join Chef Patty’s Team?

An American Culinary Federation approved curriculum aligned with any first year, post-secondary culinary.

Arts coursework, including basic cooking techniques, sanitation, storeroom ordering and inventory, stocks,

soups, & sauces, baking & pastry formulas, ethnic cooking, and cold food preparation, including garnishing techniques.

Real employment experience: be the chef, work in a commercial kitchen: two student run restaurants and numerous catered events each year.

Professional student organization membership which includes leadership opportunities, competitive skills.

Events, networking, community service and mentor/mentee options.

Graphic Communications

The Graphic Communications Program provides introductory training for careers in Graphic Design, Web Development, Digital/Animated Illustrations, Game Development, Digital Imaging/Photography, Multi-Media/Animation and Packaging Engineering. Student will be trained using State-of-the-art Software; Adobe Creative Suite 6 on 21" Intel/Apple iMacs and Print Production Equipment used in the industry.

This program is also a learning environment for employment in a Digital Quick Print Shop.
