Documentation

Climate Change Kiosk

Located on the upper concourse, the Climate Change Kiosk (CCKIOSK) is staffed daily between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Climate Change Kiosk's primary goal is to provide information about the climate change process and the secretariat as well as the range of secretariat publications and digital materials.

Climate Action talks A series of climate talks, on the theme of “Time for action”, will be

held at the Kiosk on selected days, featuring 15-minute prsentations by speakers from civil society and governments. Invited speakers will focus on adaptation, technology transfer, CDM opportunities, local and regional level initiatives, and education and outreach. The next presentations will be held on Thursday, 9 November. A full list is available from the Kiosk or via the online schedule.

10 Daily Programme Special announcements Vacancies at the UNFCCC secretariat

The secretariat is committed to ensuring equitable geographical distribution and gender balance among its staff. To this end, it would like to especially encourage qualified candidates from developing countries and women candidates to apply for vacancies. Official shuttle transport for COP 12 delegates

Kindly note that five shuttle routes have been authorized by the Government of Kenya at a concessional rate of USD 10 (or Kenyan Shilling equivalent) per day round trip as follows. The fee also includes transport to side events. To facilitate the administration of the shuttles, please register at the Kenya Information Desk, located in the lobby at the main entrance. Participants are requested to contact Mr. Jeremiah Espira on Tel. No. 0720 467442 in case of queries.

Daily Programme 11 Computing at the conference

A computer centre is available to participants from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the ground floor of the United Nations Library building. The centre is equipped with PCs with Internet access and printing facilities. Computer support staff wearing red coloured T-shirts are on hand to assist you. Wireless "plugNplay HOT SPOT" access points are also available in open areas and will be available shortly in the main meeting rooms. Signs will indicate the hot spots. In addition, the United Nations Library in Nairobi has kindly offered its reference areas on the upper and lower levels to participants of the conference. The upper area is equipped with PCs and wireless "plugNplay HOT SPOT" access points with power connections have been installed on both levels. The Library is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. PCs, printers and wireless access points are also available to media representatives and journalists in the Media tent in the conference village. Owing to Internet bandwidth limitations, file size limitations have been imposed on downloads. In addition, users should save their work frequently, in order to avoid the loss of documents should there be a power interruption. Some computing tips: please make sure your anti-virus and personal firewall are enabled and up-to-date, give your laptop a name so that we can help identify you (or your organization) for trouble-shooting purposes. Do not leave your laptop unattended at any time.

Announcements

Credentials Credentials of representatives, alternate representatives and advisers

shall be issued either by the Head of State or Government or by the Minister for Foreign Affairs. Delegations are kindly requested to forward the corresponding letter of credentials to the secretariat in the Conference Affairs office on the upper concourse (Ms. Dianiah Trought-Dederich).

Delegation nameplates

Delegates are kindly requested not to remove country nameplates from the meeting rooms. The secretariat is unable to replace these at short notice and this can lead to serious disruptions at meetings.

Pigeonholes for delegates

Pigeonholes for the distribution of official documents and messages, which delegates are kindly requested to check at regular intervals, are located in the main plaza between Plenary 1 (Simba) and Plenary II (Ndovu). Participants are requested to refrain from distributing non-official material via the pigeonholes.

Safety tips General safety tips, provided by the Kenyan police, will be placed in pigeonholes.

Participants should ensure that they wear their conference badge in full view at all times, as the security officers may request them to verify their identity. This may lead to some inconvenience at times, but it is expected that participants will understand the need for such arrangements.

Lost and found items

Participants are reminded not to leave personal belongings in meeting rooms. Documents left in meeting rooms and on unattended desks will be removed. The UNON Security office, located next to the CC:Kiosk on the upper concourse, is responsible for lost and found items.

Information for participants

A booklet on the facilities available at the conference venue, entitled “Information for participants” is available from the Information desk at the main entrance to the conference venue and also on the COP 12 website.

…inSide climate change publications counter

Participants wishing to distribute documents should contact staff at the …inSide climate change publications counter on the upper concourse next to the Climate Change Kiosk. Posters and flyers relating to side events may be affixed to the Poster boards available at prominent locations around the conference venue.

Meditation room A room for meditation and prayer is available to participants on the lower concourse, in the corridor to the left of plenary II.

Facilities for non-governmental organizations

Offices for the business and industry organizations (BINGOs), environmental groups (ENGOs) and local NGOs are located in the World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF).
