Iveco is ahead of its time: it has usedmethane since 1998. It was able to launch lowemission vehicles as early as 2005 and is still oneof the few manufacturers able to offer a standardproduction methane engine that does not requireany subsequent modifications, with all the attendantadvantages.The methane engines used on Iveco vehicles usea stoichiometric combustion process (i.e. basedon a correct ratio between air and fuel) thatbenefits from a three-way catalytic converter toobtain emission levels well below EEV (EnhancedEnvironmental Vehicle) limits and the Euro 5standards due to come into force in 2009*.All this plus ongoing innovation, for commercialtransport that respects the needs of theenvironment and our customers.

For air qualityCNG is a chemically simple fuel that burns inthe combustion chamber without producingfumes. The level of nitrogen oxide (NOx) andparticulate matter (PM) is approximately onequarter of the limit laid down by the EEVstandard. These properties mean that lubricantoil lasts longer.

The vehicle’s methane storage cylinders(5 standard + one optional) are fitted underthe frame and are protected by special covers.Their ability to withstand heat stress andimpact has been tried and tested.Their position offers the greatest freedomduring vehicle conversion.

The Daily CNG is fitted with a new generationmethane engine that is directly derived froma 3 litre Diesel engine and thus highly reliable.The new engine performs even better thanthe previous model with a power rating of136 bhp (350 Nm).
