OverviewThis section contains hands-on exercises that you will be working on throughout this course. Exercises are grouped by lesson.
Your instructor may choose to demonstrate some exercises. Therefore, you may not be required to complete all exercises. It is, however, important that you complete all exercises as requested by the instructor, as many exercises build upon one another in the course.

Exercise 2.1 Reviewing Classroom Hardware SpecificationsOpen the System Properties dialog box from the Control Panel. On the General tab, review the system information.
On the Advanced tab, review and make the necessary changes for the following settings:
Visual effects - set for best performance
Advanced - Processor scheduling - prioritize Programs
Advanced - Memory usage - prioritize Programs
Advanced - Virtual memory - set to 12288MB
Data execution prevention - set for essential Windows services and programs only
NOTE: WARNING. If you are prompted to restart, click Yes. If you manually reboot your environment, ensure that you select Restart. Do NOT select Shutdown.
Exercise 2.2 Connecting to the Controller PCThere are two controller PCs in the classroom. The instructor will assign half of the installer PCs to each controller PC. By default, all installer PCs will connect to controller PC1. If you have been selected by the instructor to point to controller PC2, you must run a batch file to update your TNSNAMES.ORA file.
Your instructor will assign you a student number and a controller PC used throughout the class exercises.

OFill in your controller PC, student number, and installer PC information:
NOTE: You can refer to this information while working on succeeding exercises in class.
If the instructor has selected you to point to controller PC2, run the update_tnsnames_controller_PC2.bat file located in D:\CF\scripts.
NOTE: Only perform the previous step if you have been selected to connect to controller PC2.
Verify the host entry in your tnsnames file to match the controller PC assigned to you by running the tnsping command against the ORCL database.
Launch Oracle SQL Developer using the desktop shortcut. On the Connection tab, create a new connection to the ORCL database with the following credentials:
Connection Name: ORCL
Username: sys
Password: hyperion
Save Password: Selected
Role: SYSDBA
Connection Type: Basic
Hostname:
Port: 1521
SID: ORCL
Test and save the database connection. Connect and expand the ORCL database connection. Locate the Other Users node, expand its child nodes, and locate the users that correspond to your student number.

Exercise 4.1 Installing Required Third-Party SoftwareIn Windows Explorer, navigate to CF\ghostscript. Run the installation for AFPL Ghostscript, accepting all default values. When finished, close the Ghostscript shortcut folder.
Exercise 4.2 Installing Planning Product ComponentsIn Windows Explorer, navigate to the CF folder. Create a subfolder named response.
Navigate to CF\install. Run the installTool.cmd and install the following components individually:

Be sure to change the drive letter of the default home directory to D.

Configuring Common Settings:
Launch EPM System Configurator from the Start menu. Run the configuration for the following Hyperion Foundation tasks:

Configure Database
Configure Oracle Configuration Manager
Configure the Shared Services database with the following connection information:
Database Type: Oracle
Server:
SID: ORCL
Username: ST##HSS (where ST## refers to your user ID)
Password: hyperion
Select to create Windows services for configured components. Note that SSL and mail servers are not configured in this class.
For the Oracle Configuration Manager Registration, be sure that e-mail options are cleared.
Set the Shared Services admin password to hyperion.
Save the response file in CF\response as config01.xml.
When the configuration is completed, return to the task panel.
Deploying Shared Services to the Application Server
In EPM System Configurator, run the configuration for the following Hyperion Foundation tasks:

Admin Port: 7001
Admin user: admin
Admin Password: Hyperion1
Accept all default addresses in the Application Server Deployment page.
Save the response file in CF\response as config02.xml.
When the configuration is completed, exit EPM System Configurator.
Exercise 5.2 Configuring User DirectoriesStart Oracle Process Manager (ohsInstance1649849633) and the Foundation Services Managed Server in Windows Services.
NOTE: In some cases, the Oracle Process Manager (ohinstance###) may be different from what is noted in this guide. You can continue with the suceeding steps using that instance number. However, take note of the number. You will be updating the startup/stop service scripts in a later exercise.
Launch Shared Services Console in Internet Explorer. Navigate to the following URL:
http://:28080/interop
Log on with user name admin and password hyperion.
Select Configure User Directories under Administration, and add a new MSAD provider.
Use the following values in creating an MSAD provider:
Name: MSAD
Host Name:
Base DN: Click Fetch DNS
Trusted: Selected
User DN: cn=ST##,cn=Users (where ST## refers to your user ID)

OFrom Enterprise View, expand until you see your machine listed under Administration Servers. Verify that it is connected.
Expand Users and verify that admin is listed.
Exercise 7.3 Adding Essbase ServersUnder Enterprise View, right-click Essbase Servers and add an Essbase server. For connection details, select your installer PC name and make sure to use Single Sign-On to connect.
Verify that the sample applications are now accessible under the Essbase Server that you added.

By default, all installer PCs will connect to controller PC1. If you have been selected by the instructor to point to controller PC2, you must run a batch file to update your TNSNAMES.ORA file.
Your instructor will assign you a student number and a controller PC used throughout the class exercises.
1. Fill in your controller PC, student number, and installer PC information
NOTE: You can refer to this information while working on succeeding exercises in class.
2. Perform an action:
a. If the instructor has selected you to point to controller PC2, proceed to step 3.
b. If the instructor has not selected you to point to controller PC2, proceed to step 5.

Solution 13.1 Moving PLAN1 to Performance Management Architect1. In Workspace, select Navigate, then Administer, and then Application Upgrade.
Application Upgrade Wizard is displayed in a separate window.
2. Review the Welcome panel, and click Next.
3. In the Application Summary panel, verify that the PLAN1 application can be upgraded, and click Next.
4. In the Application Selection panel, perform the following actions:
a. In the Upgradable Application list, select PLAN1, and click the right-arrow button to move it to the Application to Upgrade list.
b. Click Next.
5. Review the upgrade summary, and click Finish.
The wizard is closed and Job Console is displayed.
6. Click Refresh to update the status of the application upgrade process.
7. Verify that the job status is Completed.
Solution 13.2 Accessing PLAN1 in Application Library1. In Workspace, select Navigate, then Administer, and then Application Library.
2. Verify that the PLAN1 application is displayed.
The application is now a Performance Management Architect application.
