Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas

This is a fascinating film with beautiful photography. It tells the heroic story of the Emperor Penguins. Every year they travel across the Antarctic ice to find a safe place to lay their eggs. While the father looks after the egg, the mother goes back to the ocean to look for food. For two months the father eats nothing, keeping the egg on his feet, until the mother returns with food for the baby. Later, it’s the father’s turn to go and look for food for all the family.

It’s the last of the first Star Wars series. Luke Skywalker travels to the desert planet of Tatooine to save his friend Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt, the ugly criminal leader. In the dramatic battle of Endor at the end of the film, Luke discovers he is fighting against his own father, the terrible and frightening Darth Vader. The original version of this film came out in 1983; a new special edition with more impressive special effects followed in 1997.

There’s lots of action in this James Bond film. Number 21 in the series, it is based on the first James Bond novel. It features 37-year-old British actor Daniel Craig as Bond for the first time. As usual, Bond travels across the world chasing criminals. Madagascar, Montenegro and the Bahamas are some of the places he visits. He also has time for some romance in Venice with a beautiful spy called Vesper. Does Craig make a better Bond than Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan? You decide!

In this Dreamworks version of a popular story, Sinbad the sailor travels to the end of the world to look for the Book of Peace. This is the only way he can save the life of his friend Prince Proteus. There are some exciting moments in this animated film, especially the battle with the sea monster. If the voices seem familiar, you’re right! They include Brad Pitt (as Sinbad), Michelle Pfeiffer, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Joseph Fiennes.
