Research Interests:

artifacts. Artifacts that are created outside mainstream canons of design, that have

“new tradition” in Ethiopian chair design – the Aksum chair. A new design style that

is based on the stelae from the ancient Kingdom of Aksum. Including two research

visits to Ethiopia 2015.

Gum Arabic: A creative visual research (painting series) using one of paintings most

ancient compounds extracted from the Acacia Senegal that grows across the Sahel.

The gum historically was part of an African-European trade controlled by Arabs

(hence the name) used for various cooking, medicinal, cosmetic and artistic uses.
