1 Overview of safety valve with unit approval type CMVX

The safety valve with unit approval type CMVX 2 protects pressurised hydraulicsystems against overloading in accordance with the Pressure EquipmentDirective.The valves are designed as direct-acting, spring-loaded, cone-seated valves.

5 Assembly, operation and maintenance recommendations

5.1 Intended application

This valve is intended exclusively for hydraulic applications (uid engineering). The valve meets high technical safety standards andregulations for uid.

The user must observe the safety measures and warnings in this documentation.

Essential requirements for the product to function correctly and safely:

– All information in this documentation must be observed. This applies in particular to all safety measures and warnings.– The product must only be assembled and put into operation by qualied personnel.– The product must only be operated within the specied technical parameters. The technical parameters are described in detail in this

documentation.– The operating and maintenance manual of the specic complete system must also always be observed.

If the product can no longer be operated safely:

Remove the product from operation and mark it accordingly. It is then not permitted to continue using or operating the product.

5.2 Assembly information

The product must only be installed in the complete system with standard connection components that comply with market requirements(screw ttings, hoses, pipes, etc.).

The hydraulic system must be shut down correctly prior to dismounting; this applies in particular to hydraulic systems with hydraulicaccumulators.

5.2.1 Manifold block

When designing the manifold block, the ow direction (see Chapter 2, "Available versions, main data") must be heeded. The limit valuesfor pressure and ow rate in the table according to Chapter 2, "Available versions, main data" apply for the depressurised reux to thetank. When designing the manifold block into which the CMVX 2 is to be screwed, the ow resistance of the return duct (R) is thereforeto be kept as low as possible as it counts towards the valve pressure. It should therefore be ensured that the R duct is sufficientlydimensioned and, as far as possible, channelled back to the oil tank of the system directly and without numerous detours. In the lowestpmin range of 20 and 91 bar for each of the valves CMVX 2 G and E, and with full utilisation of the Qpermitted values, it is recommendedthat you do not connect the R duct to the general reux of the hydraulic circuit if higher reux resistances are to be expected there.Instead it should be guided back separately and not under pressure.

5.2.2 Screwing in the screw-in valve

Particular care must be taken when installing the valves. The provisions of the Pressure Equipment Directive must be observed. Regularinspections are governed by the national regulations on safety valves and systems. In order to protect it against external damage, thevalve must be installed in a safe position or a suitable protective device must be tted.

1. Before screwing in the valve, loosen the lock nut and sealing nut until the travel stop.2. Screw in the valve and tighten to the specied torque. The metallic sealing of the inlet

to the outlet is formed between the facial sealing edge of the valve and the shoulder ofthe stepped hole in the basic body.

3. Tighten the counter/sealing nut to the specied torque.

5.3 Operating instructions

Product configuration and setting the pressure and ow rate

The statements and technical parameters in this documentation must be strictly observed.The instructions for the complete technical system must also always be followed.

Note■ Read the documentation carefully before usage.■ The documentation must be accessible to the operating and maintenance staff at all times.■ Keep documentation up to date after every addition or update.

CautionRisk of injury on overloading components due to incorrect pressure settings!Risk of minor injury.

■ Always monitor the pressure gauge when setting and changing the pressure.

Purity and ltering of the hydraulic uid

Fine contamination can significantly impair the function of a hydraulic power pack. Contamination can cause irreparable damage.

Examples of ne contamination include:– Metal chips– Rubber particles from hoses and seals– Dirt due to assembly and maintenance– Mechanical debris– Chemical ageing of the hydraulic uid

NoteFresh hydraulic uid from the drum does not always have the highest degree of purity. Under some circumstances the freshhydraulic uid must be ltered before use.

Pay attention to the cleanliness level of the hydraulic uid in order to maintain faultless operation.(Also see cleanliness level in Chapter 3, "Parameters".)

5.4 Maintenance information

This product is largely maintenance-free.

Conduct a visual inspection at regular intervals, but at least once per year, to check if the hydraulic connections are damaged. Ifexternal leakages are found, shut down and repair the system.

Clean the device surface of dust deposits and dirt at regular intervals, but at least once per year.
