What is cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying is…
Sending threatening or nasty emails
Repeatedly posting unkind comments on social networking
Encouraging others to post unkind comments on social networking
Making prank phone calls or silent phone calls
Sending repeated threatening or unkind texts
Sending repeated anonymous texts
Making threats or inappropriate comments on a gaming network
As a parent what should I be looking for?
Your child becoming withdrawn or very quiet – although they may tell you that nothing is wrong.
They are reluctant to go to school, or join in group activities.
There is a noticeable change in their mood and behaviour.
The child and appears generally more isolated than previously from the rest of the class.
There is a decline in their performance and participation in school work.
They hide their computer or mobile screen from you.

Talking to the children about cyberbullying and what to do if it happens to them
Creating an anti-cyberbullying charter in KS2 to share with the whole school
Encouraging the children to talk to us if they are worried about cyberbullying – or that a friend is being cyberbullied
Teaching the children about ways that they can report abuse on the internet including the CEOP button
