As Chief Operating Officer, will be responsible for the following:

Making sure that improvement programmes are designed and delivered to achieve the Foundation’s strategic objectives, maximising learning and impact:

• Responsibility for the overall financial allocation and expenditure processes across all improvement programmes.• Direction and leadership of the improvement programmes team to ensure they fulfil their responsibi-lities and potential to deliver high quality schemes, and continual improvement of our award making activity to protect and enhance the reputation of the Foundation as a high quality funding partner.• Ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to collating results and drawing learning from our improvement programmes to support influencing of policy and practice in healthcare and disse-mination activity across the Foundation’s strategic aims.

Making sure that key corporate processes are designed and delivered in the most cost effective manner:Planning:• Ensure preparation of the Foundation’s annual business plan and preparation of the other financial reports, budgets, procedures and processes.Ensure the development and management of the Foundation’s risk management strategy.

Health and Safety:• Ensure the development and management of the Foundation’s compliance with health and safety requirements.Governance:• Ensure compliance with the law, regulations, codes of good practice, relevant guidelines and regulatory requirements and ensuring that processes are in place for periodic review of arrangements.

Legal:• Ensure the provision of legal advice in relation to all activities in which the Foundation is engaged.Commissioning and Contracting:• Ensure that all the Foundation’s commissioning activity and contracting arrangements meet high standards of governance and value for money; contain the right provisions for the circumstances of the agreement, taking and following legal advice as necessary; and address the issue of intellectual property.

Board and Board Committees:• Provide support for the Board and its committees: Audit (via the Director of Finance), Nominations (via the Head of Operations) and Remuneration (via the Director of HR & OD).Making sure the support services of the Foundation are managed and led effectively:Provide general management and leadership to the finance, HR, OD, governance, ICT and facilities functions of the Foundation, motivating functional heads and promoting excellence in design and delivery. Including:

Finance:• Ensure, via the Director of Finance, that the Board, CEO and wider senior team are provided with

strategic and operational financial management including provision of an efficient and effective finan-cial management and accounting service.

HR & OD:• Ensure, via the Director of HR & OD, that the Board and CEO and wider senior team are provided with strategic and operational HR management including a high quality HR service that meets the immediate and longer-term needs of the Foundation; and a strategic approach to OD that conti-nuously improves the Foundation’s ways of working.

Facilities:Ensure the provision of a high quality facilities and office management function providing an efficient, safe and healthy working environment, cost-effective sourcing of supplies and effective building management.Ensure the provision of IT infrastructure and support services to ensure the provision of high quality facilities and effective services.
