In order to expedite the lexicon building process, I created some JAVA-based tools to help with information extraction. � Syntax II Paper Passive Constructions in VietnameseI propose a revision to the Syntactic Hierarchy of Projections to account for Vietnamese passive constructionsand propose new case markings to account for the syntactic variations between the passivization ofintransitive and transitive verbs in Vietnamese.

� Phonology I Paper Codas of French Loanwords in VietnameseI show how the clashing phonotactics of codas of French and Vietnamese resolve themselves duringadaptation of French. As French and Vietnamese both sport different restraints on consonants in codas, Iattempt to account for adaptations of codas in Vietnamese through rule-based sound changes.

� I am social activist who focuses on Asian American issues. I have been on board for the Asian PacificCoalition at UCLA for two years and have fought for additional funding for student retention programson campus, put on a panel and resource fair to bring awareness to Asian American mental health issues,and have put on workshops in order to educate peers on various issues that affect the Asian Americancommunity at large.

� I enjoy listening to Korean pop music and run a blog in which I analyze and review recent Korean popreleases. I hope to further expand this blog to cover a wider range of material that will feature moresocially conscious content to more comedic posts.

� In my spare time, I enjoy teaching myself music theory so I can diversify my piano covers of Korean popsongs. I like to improvise and cover Korean pop songs on the piano by ear and I hope to teach myselfenough guitar basics so I can also cover more pop music on the guitar as well.
