Landscape Architect and Garden Designer

GABINO CARBALLO I have been a landscape architect and project manager for Barcelona Parks and Gardens Department since November 2005. In my capacity as designer for public green spaces, I have been involved in the design, improvement and management of numerous Mediterranean parks and gardens in the city of Barcelona.

I also work as a private landscape consultant and designer, and I have participated in several competitions and commissions related to the creation of landscapes, gardens and publications. I have worked in multi-disciplinary teams as a design consultant in the development, management and execution of corporate, private and public spaces.

I am currently managing the implementation of 16 small experimental low-cost public spaces for the City of Barcelona. I am also privately involved in the development of an ephemeral hydroponic garden installation for the City of Lausanne in Switzerland; as well as writing and editing a new technical standard for alternative drainage techniques in parks and gardens.

I am also a guest lecturer at several academic institutions, such as the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona UAB, Istituto Europeo di Design IED, Escola Sert-COAC and Centro de Formación del Laberinto de Horta.

Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montreal. Montreal, Canada, 2013. Project design, management and hands on execution of a Gaudí themed salamander mosaiculture exhibit at the international mosaiculture festival in Montreal.

Royal Palace Gardens Access Improvement. Barcelona, 2012. Project design, management and execution of a new access point, footpaths and planting areas within the historical palace gardens.

Doctor Robert Gardens Improvement. Barcelona, 2012. Project design, management and execution of improvements to paving, planting and services, including irrigation and lighting systems.
