Forest Tree Breeding. Title of thesis: “Patterns of genetic variation and hybridization in a

mixed oak (Quercus spp.) forest”. Degree: Doctor in Forest Sciences, Summa cum laude

(Excellent).

Positions and responsibilities

10/2008 - present Associate Professor at Department of Forest Sciences, University of Transilvania, Brasov.

Lectures held: Forest genetics, Introduction to animal genetics, Dendrology (practical

applications and field trips). Responsible of the laboratory of molecular genetics. Since

2012 Dean of the Faculty of Forestry.

09/2006 – 09/2008 Lecturer at the Department of Forest Sciences.

03/1999 – 09/2003 Teaching and Research Assistant at the Department of Forest Sciences (2000: 8 months at

Federal Forestry Research Centre and University of Agricultural Sciences, Austria).

 

Research

Interests: genetics of forest tree species (population and evolutionary genetics, hybridization, gene flow,

conservation genetics).

 

Author  of 11 articles in ISI journals (7 as first author) and 15 articles in other peer-reviewed journals

(CABI, Scopus database), 5 books/book chapters, 6 papers in Conference Proceedings.

 

Citations: 70 in ISI Web of Science journals. ISI h-index – 5.

 

Director of two research grants funded by CNCS (ID-183, 2007-2010, TE-73, 2010-2013). Director of the

EU-Canada Transatlantic Exchange Partnership (2010-2013, Managing forests for multiple values, funded

 by European Commission through EACEA). Member in the Management Committee of Cost Action

FP0905 Biosafety of Forest Transgenic Trees (2010-2014).
