for major oil companies, service companies and chemical companies in the USA and abroad. Saudi Aramco Oil Company, Saudi Arabia. July 01, 2007 to December 03, 2007: Principal Professional March 31, 2006 to July, 01, 2007: Group Leader, Drilling and Recovery Group. Manage more than 22 senior scientists (PhD), 20 young engineers (BSc and MSc) and technicians (15). Responsible for all research projects dealing with downhole operations. This includes, but not limited to, acidizing, fracturing, formation damage, drilling, and cementing. October 01, 2001 to March 31, 2006: Senior Research Consultant, Supervisor of the Formation Damage and Stimulation Unit. Manage and supervise senior scientists (3), young engineers (25) and technicians (12) in addition to conducting various research projects. Co-supervise two master degrees and one Ph.D. degree. October 1, 1998 to September 30, 2001: Research Consultant, Group Leader: Formation Damage, Stimulation, Fracturing and Conformance Control. Lead a group of scientists, engineers (nearly 25) and 8 technicians. Investigate microbial corrosion by SRB. Evaluate chemical and mechanical methods to remove iron sulfide scale, examine corrosion inhibition during acidizing deep gas wells. Evaluate water shut-off techniques using gels, e.g., H2Zero system. Examine viscoelastic surfactants and their use in the oil industry. Developed a new scale squeeze treatment for a sandstone reservoir in Saudi Arabia. Design acid treatment for acid-sensitive for a deep gas sandstone reservoir. Determine formation damage due to drilling and completion fluids. Design stimulation programs to acidize carbonate and sandstone reservoirs (oil and deep gas wells). Study flow of acids in radial cores and mathematical modelling of acidizing sandstone reservoirs. October 1, 1996 to September 30, 1998: Science Specialist. Evaluate sand consolidation chemicals. Assess field application of various acidizing jobs. Conduct several research projects on special acid formulas, e.g., acid-in-diesel emulsions, and in-situ gelled acids (VCA, SDA, EAS). Determine propagation of mud acids in sandstone cores using 19F NMR. Examine borate-based gels for wellbore diversion and fracturing. Study cross-linking of polyacrylamide-based polymers using organic cross-linkers. Evaluate various techniques to improve the quality of injection and produced waters. Investigate various monomers/polymers to reduce relative permeability to water (relative permeability modifiers). Examine acid-cement interactions. Investigate potential formation damage due to fracturing fluids. October 1, 1994 to October 1, 1996: Senior Scientist. Supervised a group of seven professionals (chemists and chemical engineers) and eight technologists to conduct applied research projects. Designed a novel acid

treatment to restore the injectivity of damaged wells in a sandstone reservoir. The treatment was applied successfully in eighty wells. Designed a water shut-off treatment using polyacrylamide and chrome acetate technology. Developed a stimulation procedure to treat sour wells and remove biomass generated by sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB). Contributed to the design and field application of gravel packing in sandstone reservoirs. Developed retarded acid systems to stimulate tight carbonate reservoirs. Evaluated acid additives including iron control agents (sequestering agents), hydrogen sulfide scavengers, water-wetting agents and mutual solvents. Tested various cationic polymers (drag reducers) to increase the injectivity of water disposal wells. Studied flow of biocides and corrosion inhibitors in sandstone formations. Designed a new chemical treatment to remove organic (asphaltene) and inorganic materials (calcium carbonate and iron sulfide), which reduce the productivity of several wells in a carbonate reservoir. September 20, 1992 to October 1, 1994: Scientist I. Conducted research projects on soil remediation using the alkali/surfactant/polymer process. Studied the rheological properties of water-soluble polymers (polyacrylamide and xanthan gum) used in oil field operations. Evaluated various gelling systems to reduce water production and improve sweep efficiency. Examined various properties of aqueous surfactant solutions including: formation of a liquid crystal phase in anionic surfactant solutions and the cloud point of nonionic surfactants. Evaluated various clay stabilizers (cationic polymers). Assessed various methods for sand wash-out. Studied fouling in heat exchangers. Evaluated the efficiency of several desalters and optimize the type and concentration of the demulsifier used. Duties also included training research engineers (3) and technologists (4). Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Alberta, Canada. May 1, 1990 to date: Adjunct Professor. Conducted joint research projects on oil-sand processing including: solid-liquid mixing, flow of slurries in pipelines, solid-liquid separation in inclined plate settlers, solids distribution in manifolds, and flow of dry solids and slurries in rotary drums. Examined the diffusion of surfactants in polymer solutions. Performed research projects on fractionation of pulp, and adsorption of surfactants on reservoir rocks. Co-supervised a M.Sc. (R.S. Studied chemical flooding (alkali, micellar, and polymer flooding) in linear and radial cores, the effect of polymers and surfactants on the dynamic interfacial tension between acidic oils and various alkaline solutions, propagation of polymer, alkali and surfactant slugs in porous media.
