Part VI – Research Activities Research main interests are: i) the structure and function of hemoproteins, mainly hemoglobin, ii) study of erythrocyte signaling pathways involved in the regulation of cell metabolism, iii) new analytical methods of biochemical interest. Presently he focused his main research interests in neurodegenerative pathologies, initiating studies of a new model based on the red blood cell (RBC), to investigate the role of vascular alterations in the mechanisms responsible for Alzheimer’s disease. Based on the results obtained, a new AD-pathogenesis hypothesis has been suggested, that is, the RBC hypothesis of AD, which would help advance the current understanding of the AD pathogenesis. Main technical skills: biochemical techniques, purify and characterize proteins, chromatography, electrophoresis, enzymology. – Selected Publication (2016-2020)
