The program reflects extensive collaboration with the foreign language department and foreign language educators at all levels of instruction, 1999-2000. The changes included the following: • Elimination and replacement of courses no longer being offered • Update of program requirements to satisfy current state certification criteria • Expansion of clinical experiences to include K-8 placements • Promoting flexibility in scheduling clinical experiences, a collaborative effort

involving foreign language faculty, the Office of Clinical Experiences, and the foreign language education program

• Creation of comprehensive advisement manual to facilitate faculty advising • Revision of curricula of foreign language methods courses to reflect current

foreign language pedagogy and theory • Development and implementation of foreign language methods summer

institutes to attract state-wide pre-service and in-service teacher enrollment • Development of Technology in the Foreign Language Classroom course • Creation of foreign language education advisory council consisting of 40

foreign language educators at all levels of instruction

Details of the revision of the undergraduate foreign language education program are detailed in the following articles:

2006 Revision of Foreign Language Education Certificate Program. To meet

increased inquiries in the foreign language education graduate certificate program and the specialization area of the M.Ed. In Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in foreign language education, revisited the curriculum of the certificate program. Several of the courses were no longer being offered. In addition, some of the courses were moved to reflect a stronger foreign language education focus.

2005 Graduate-Level ESOL Endorsement Infusion Model Development. Member of

committee convened to infuse with the 25 ESOL Performance Standards the M.A. programs in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Exceptional Education, and English Language Arts (6-12) Education. In preparing the folios for submission to the Department of Education, I was involved in the: • Dissemination of information to help faculty prepare the folios for their

programs. • Composition of narratives for Standards 6.4 and 12 of the folios for each of

the four affected programs. • Creation of matrices indicating faculty who will be teaching the ESOL-

infused courses, their titles, their part-time or full-time status, and the degree of their ESOL training. These matrices included all faculty who would be teaching the ESOL-infused courses and/or supervising students in ESOL-infused internships.
