Total Monies Spent towards War• Our government has spent so much money on the War in Iraq

and it has affected the U.S.A.’s economy greatly.• Currently, the total monies being spent on the war is

$1,165,414,220,259.00• This is going to greatly effect our future of how we will get

places, how we will save and spend our money.

Books that have been Published About War in Iraq and Afghanistan

• A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner have been written by Khaled Hosseini who resides in the U.S.A but frequently goes with groups who try to help the Middle East. The Kite Runner takes on the view of men in Afghanistan and how they easily can lose a friendship and can be lied to for their entire life just to keep a family name clean. A Thousand Splendid Suns takes on the view of women and how much hurt and disrespect they have endure. It really shows how women in the Middle East have no voice and are told what to do and when they can do it.

Three Cups of Tea• Greg Mortenson & David

Oliver Relin go over to the Middle East and build schools for the children who are suffering through war. His motto is “One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time.“ He has to over come obstacles put into his path in order to have the schools built which takes experience and will power. In the end that is exactly what happens and he is rewarded with his goal being reached.

Abu Ghurayb Prison

• This Abu Ghurayb Prison is located approximately 20 miles west of Baghdad.

• In this prison, Saddam Kamal observed the torture and execution of thousands of political prisoners. The prison was under the control of the Amn al-Amm.

• “4000 prisoners were executed at Abu Ghraib Prison in 1984. At least 122 male prisoners were executed at Abu Ghraib prison in February/ March 2000. A further 23 political prisoners were executed there in October 2001.”

ROTC students face less combat because of Iraq, Afghanistan withdrawal

• Because of the withdrawal of troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, the deployment rate has decreased for those in ROTC
