Visit to Chambéry

Historic capital of Savoie, Chambéry has plenty of interests, with its lively streets and squares, its numerous culinary specialities and boutiques. Beside funky contemporary buildings are a widly decorated cathedral, many museums and a major castle.

Visit to Aix-les-Bains

The city of Aix-les-Bains has retained much of its “Belle Époque” elegance. Up the slope from the lake lies the genteel old spa town. Down by the lake stand the marinas reflecting a sporty new Aix. The countryside around Lake Bourget has rich culinary traditions and strong craft heritage.

Visit to the Chautagne winery in Ruffieux

A cooperative formed by 50 local producers so they would be able to oversee every stage of the winemaking process, from the vineyard to the bottle. The exhibition is an unusual and fun way to present the winemaker’s art and the wines of Savoie. It includes three projection rooms and a “senses area” that immerses visitors in the world of flavours and aromas. The wine shop sells a selection of wines and products from Chautagne and other areas of Savoie.

Visit to the oil mill in Chanaz

Built in 1858, the mill on the edge of the pretty village of Chanaz has been lovingly restored and is well worth a visit. The miller will be delighted to demonstrate his savoir-faire and explain how he extracts the delicious oils from walnuts and hazelnuts. His products are prized by some of the greatest chefs in Savoie Mont Blanc.

RETRO WINE TOUR ALONG THE LAKE - 1 day

A short break centred round an excursion in a 2CV along the country lanes between Aix-les-Bains and Chautagne. The

itinerary meanders through charming French villages and picturesque vineyards and offer breathtaking views of Lake Bour-

get and the Alps. The circuit includes short stops to taste local produce and delicacies.

Excursion in a chauffeur-driven 2CV.

A short break in the mediaeval village of Chanaz will give you time to wander through the pretty streets to the walnut oil mill. A coffee tasting at the village’s roasting house is followed by a short detour to the locks between the Savières canal and the Rhone. The return leg to Aix-les-Bains goes up the switchbacks to the Col de la Chambotte with its magnificent views along the entire length of the lake.
