TEXEL PRODUCTSTexel boasts an amazing range of home-grown products. From beer to
lamb, from oysters to salt-tolerant vegetables. All are known for their taste and honest production: local produce grown by passionate farmers. There is
even a real quality mark: Echt Texel Produkt. All products with this quality mark have been prepared with local ingredients from the island.
Texels Juttertje - Beachcombing is an age-old tradition
on Texel. At all hours of the day and night, tough guys can
be found beachcombing. Once back home, soaked and
cold to the bone, it is time for a Juttertje. Perhaps the best-
known Texel drink!
Lamb - Texel and lamb go hand in hand. Lambs are born,
fed and slaughtered on Texel. There is even a quality mark:
Waddengoud. Lamb with this quality mark is high-quality
meat, with the lambs having spent over 100 days in the
fi elds.
Asparagus - The Keijser family is known on Texel for
their asparagus. Every year, they provide deliciously fresh,
home-grown asparagus. The saline soil in which the
asparagus are grown gives them a smooth, tender taste.
Ice cream - Located in the north of Texel is ice-cream farm
Labora. A household name on Texel. They make the tastiest
ice cream from their own cows’ milk. All the cows graze out
in the fi elds and you can taste that!
Hoornderring - One of the most famous Texel cake
specialities is Hoornderring from bakery Timmer. A soft
round cake, fi lled with almond paste. Delicious with a cup of
coffee or as a dessert with whipped cream. Enjoy it at a Texel
restaurant, or as a treat at home!
