The department is working closely with NSW Health to ensure we have access to the latest advice on how to keep our staff, our children, students and community safe. We are following their guidance and continue to implement proactive measures to limit the impact of COVID-19 in our schools and workplaces. Over the last two weeks we have been transitioning to an online learning environment where the majority of our students, currently about 95%, are being supported to learn from home. At this point in time it is envisaged that this current way of operating will continue well into Term 2. Over the past week our teaching and support staff have also been transitioning into the world of teaching from home. As we continue with the restrictions of staying at home more of our staff will be working remotely in Term 2. At this stage we are currently organising for a reduced number of staff onsite to provide the necessary supervision for those children who need to come to school. From the start of Term 2 all of our classes K-6 will be utilising Google Classroom as their platform for learning. The decision to move our K-2 students across to Google Classroom was made to support our students, teachers and families with a more consistent whole school approcah. Class Dojo will continue to be used as a communication tool between parents and their childs class teacher. K-2 teachers are currently setting up their Google Classrooms ready to start in Week 1 next term. I would like to once again thank all of our school community for your ongoing support at this time and we ask that you now take 5 mintues to complete the Learning from Home Parent/Carer feedback survey that we have developed. This information will help us as we continue to refine our approach. The survey can be found at the following link https://forms.gle/ gYzJNP8TvYUEg3VX6 Can I please ask that you complete a new survey for each of your children. I once again encourage you to visit the Learning from Home site at https://education.nsw.gov.au/parents-and- carers/learning-from-home where you can find advice and resources for parents and carers to support student success when learning remotely. This site now includes support around setting up your home, parent resources and some suggestions for school holiday activities that you may find useful. I would like to wish each and every one of our families a very happy Easter and I hope that your staycationfor these holidays is an enjoyable one! Monday 27 th April is a Staff Development Day. All students will resume their online learning from Tuesday 28 th April.

Kindergarten 2021 Our enrolment process for starting Kindergarten in 2021 at Cudgegong Valley PS will begin at the start of Term 2. Enrolments for Kindergarten 2021 are now being taken and are due in to the school by Friday 3

rd July.

Each Department of Education school across NSW has a local intake area. To identify if you reside within the local intake area for Cudgegong Valley Public School please go to the NSW Public School Finder at https://my.education.nsw.gov.au/school-finder/index. All NSW Department of Education schools also have an enrolment ceiling. The enrolment ceiling is the number of students that can be enrolled at a school based on the school’s permanent accommodation. The enrolment ceiling tells us whether the school may or may not have the capacity to accept non-local enrolments. Our school’s current enrolment exceeds our enrolment ceiling. For this reason, our school is unable to take non-local students, unless there are exceptional circumstances. More information regarding this can be found in our school Enrolment Policy on the school website https://cudgegongv-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-our-school/rules-and-policies.html If you have a child who is starting school in 2021 and you are currently living in our local intake area then please contact Lisa Hauville on 6372 3466 or email [email protected] to arrange for an enrolment pack to be sent out. These packs will be sent out to all registered families during Week 2 of next term. Michelle Neaverson-Smith Principal

Easter Raffle

Thank you to all the families that made donations to the Easter Raffle last week in the form of chocolates and baskets. I’d also like to thank all those people who bought tickets in the raffle. Although it may not have been as bigger raffle as previous years, it was still a fantastic contribution to our SRC. The SRC managed to make $490 out of the raffle which they will discuss how it can be used to benefit the school. Congratulations to all those people who were successful in the raffle. Information for Parents About Worried Children from our school counsellor

According to health professionals the most productive thing we can do for our children is remain calm and rational ourselves as parents.

Our message to our children should be “yes, there is change but we are able to handle it”. They learn what to be worried about, and how worried to be, by watch-ing us, their parents.

It is very normal for everyone to be a little anxious un-der the current conditions, of learning from home and separation from friends and grandparents. Although children are very resilient, as time goes by, some may seem more sad, anxious or overwhelmed. You can play an important role in supporting them and confirm-ing that is how they are feeling.

Children who are overly worried are likely to start ask-ing many questions and asking them over and over, you may also notice a change in their mood or more “tummy or leg aches” at times.

Here are some very well researched Mental Health APPS that you can access to support your child if needed. Don’t hesitate to contact your school counsel-lor through the school for further advice, (I support our CVPS community on Wednesday and Thursday each week) or to seek advice from other health profession-als,
