Coventry University Students’ Union (CUSU)is based in TheHub where an extensiveentertainment programme, welfare and

volunteering activities and a huge rangeof sports clubs and societies awaits. Thisensures there are plenty of ways for you toform friendships and enjoy the social side ofyour university experience. 

HUSH

HUSH is the main entertainment venue forCUSU where they run events for studentsranging from regular party nights and livemusic to dance training sessions. Thestudent only door policy means you’re morelikely to meet people from your course orbased in your Halls and can quickly widenyour circle of friends.

 When it comes to sports clubs at CUSUyou’ll find everything from traditional sportslike football and rugby to the non-traditionalsuch as cheerleading and mountaineering.We enter teams into the British Universitiesand Colleges Sports league and take partin everything from swimming to boxing.

 The Sports and Recreation Centre is amajor asset on campus and our studentsconsistently tell us it’s one of our highlights.

 There are around 100 sports clubs andsocieties for you to join at Coventry andwe offer religious and culturally basedsocieties such as Islamic, Afro-Caribbean

and Christian Union. CUSU also organisesthe annual Varsity sporting event, whereCoventry University sports clubs playUniversity of Warwick clubs.

cost of teaching groupsof similar courses. Onlineand classroom-basedcourses, for example,cost significantly less todeliver than laboratory-based courses and thisis reflected in the lowerfee you pay.

We know you expect aconsistent, high-quality,academic experienceand also expect to findcertain student supportservices and facilities aspart of your student life.

 The costs of these areshared equally by allfull-time students andare included in the fee.

Phoenix Scholarship

 The scholarships will beawarded competitively on thebasis of good results. Eachscholarship will be worth£3,000 per year. Of this wewill give the successful scholar£500 in cash (paid by BACS),£500 to be spent on Universityservices such as University-owned accommodation and

£2,000 as a fee waiver (ie wewill reduce the fee you pay in2014/15 by £2,000).

Phoenix Scholarshipsrequire students to:

• Be entitled to a full

maintenance grant/specialsupport grant from StudentFinance England;

• Obtain more than 280UCAS points from 3 full A2levels or certain equivalentqualifications;

• Select Coventry University as

first choice (CF/UF) throughUCAS.

 A proportion of thesescholarships will be reservedfor students from schoolsand colleges in the PhoenixPartnership. The remainder will

be allocated to other qualifyingstudents residing in the UK.

 This could mean a reward of£9,000 during the length of yourstudies if you satisfy the renewalconditions each year.

Sports Scholarship

We offer one of the bestsports scholarship supportprogrammes in the country.Sports scholarships areawarded competitively each

year to approximately 30students with the highestsporting ability. The followingcriteria apply:

• Be able to demonstrateexcellence in your chosensporting activity at national or

international level;• Be willing and able to

represent the university at ahigh level in that sport;

• Be participating in a sportthat’s recognised by SportEngland. This can be checkedat www.sportengland.org;

• If playing in a team, thismust be in an unpaid and/orunsponsored capacity.

Sports scholarships are forone year and are worth either:

• £3,000 consisting of up to

£1,500 cash and up to £1,500worth of support or,• £1,500 consisting of £750 cash

and £750 worth of support.

Grants

For all students qualifying for full

or part maintenance grants fromStudent Finance England we offerthe following grant awards:

• £100 towards the cost of anoptional short visit or field tripoverseas connected with yourcourse. You may only claim for

one such trip during your course;• £500 towards additional

accommodation costs ormaintenance costs youmay incur if you take up theopportunity of a study period, orwork placement, of one monthor more overseas. You may only

claim this grant once;• £500 towards travel and

subsistence costs if youtake up a work placement orinternship in the UK, outside theCoventry area, of one month ormore where the placement orinternship is unpaid. You may

only claim this grant once.
