What’s On 6-7
This term, Aqua class has been learning about Summertime Safety including water safety and sun safety. Learning about the 5 ways to keep safe in the sun has been very fun. The students have been practising putting sunscreen on their skin before playtimes, wearing hats and trying on sunglasses.
By using the SunSmart song by Justine Clarke to help them engage the students have learned the 5 S’s of sun safety:
Slip on a Shirt Slop on Sunscreen Slap on a Hat Seek out Shade Slide on Sunglasses
The SunSmart song and other fantastic resources about sun safety can be downloaded for free from: www.sunsmart.com.au
During cooking, the class constructed an edible beach using Blue Jelly as the sea and custard with yellow coconut as the sand. They placed gummy bears under umbrellas on the ‘beach’ and put a boat on the ‘sea water’. They all enjoyed making it, but enjoyed eating it more!!
As the year comes to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my fantastic students on all their achievements this year! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and
Happy Holidays – it’s now time for the class to practise their Christmas Concert item and get stuck into making lots of Christmas Craft!
Aqua Class 23 NOVEMBER 2015
Welcome to week 8
Last week’s extreme weather has prompted us to once again review our programs in the event of days like last Friday. Wet weather will be called on extremely hot days as the playground was unbearably hot and a risk for many of our students. In addition community access and sport programs may be cancelled on these days and alternate programs conducted at school inside .As I mentioned last week please ensure your children have a hat and water bottle each day, the bottle can be refilled at any time. Please apply sunscreen before school and we will reapply school sunscreen before play time. If you would prefer to send in personal sunscreen for your child please do so and let the class teacher know in the communication book.
Our feature class this week is Aqua Class. This is our older primary class and for some the final year in the primary section of our school. They are busily preparing for our end of year celebrations and engaging in a range of activities across the school. We also feature our senior work experience program. This has been very successful this year with an increased number of students participating in programs both at school and in the workplace to learn the skills they will use in their post school years.
This week is our Primary incursion to celebrate the end of the current unit of work the primary classes have been covering this term. As this is a fun day we would like parents
to send their children to school in “mufti”, comfortable clothes for a fun day. It promises to be a great day and staff and students are looking forward to it.
We have some upcoming events for you to put in your diaries. Our year 12 Graduation and Secondary Awards Dinner will be held on Wednesday, 2 December at Roseville Golf Club. The cost of this event has been kindly subsidised by our P&C for which we are very grateful. The Primary awards ceremony will be held at school on Monday 14 December and a note will be sent home next week with information regarding times and organisation. Our annual Christmas concert will be held this year on Thursday December 10 under our fabulous COLA from 12-1pm, it is always a wonderful feel good event and I hope all of our parents can make it.
Don’t forget to save the date of March 16 for the 2016 golf day and fundraising dinner at Roseville Golf Club. The next meeting of the Golf day planning committee is Tuesday, 24 November commencing at 6:30pm at Roseville Golf Club. Everyone is welcome to attend.
I am including a link below to a carers newsletter sent to me which may be of interest to some or all of our families.

On a very scary note there are only 18 school days remaining and 32 days to Christmas.

Work Experience The senior students at Cromehurst School have been doing both in-school and out-of-school work experience this term. Jedd, Oliver, Cameron and Zac went to Fighting Chance; they researched products on the inter-net, typed on computers and helped with stock take. Luke from Blue class and Luke from Red class went to Sunnyfield where they did packaging. Other students did many school service jobs around school such as refilling paper towels, recycling, delivering paper products and watering our gardens especially before the hot days last week.
The work our students do both at school and in the com-
munity are work experience and they should be congrat-
ulated on all the effort they put in!
