This is week 3 on the Department’s calendar as teachers returned to school the Friday prior to students who returned officially in week 2. I hope all of our families had an enjoyable break from the school routine and managed some respite from the intense heat wave in January. This year as usual we welcome some new families to our school community, we look forward to working with them to support their children and thank them for choosing Cromehurst. We also welcome Elizabeth Horncastle to our school who has been appointed as a permanent School Learning Support Officer. All of our students have settled in well to their classes this year and hopefully there will be minimal movement during the year. However, our school is not at capacity and the placement of additional students throughout the year may necessitate some changes depending upon the ages of students placed. I can assure parents that any changes to class compositions will be made with consideration of all individual students’ needs. General permission notes were e-mailed last week to all families for a range of purposes such as general local outings, photographic permission and sunscreen application. If you have not returned these please do so at your earliest convenience, the notes are included in this newsletter for any families that missed them. If you have any questions regarding the programs or the content of the notes please contact the school or your child’s teacher. A reminder that our parent information evening is this Wednesday, 8 February from 5:30-7:00pm. Refreshments will be available from 5:30pm and the information sessions will commence at 5:50pm in the ground floor Red and Blue classrooms at the front of the school. This is an opportunity to meet the staff and obtain information about the programs we are conducting this year. We look forward to meeting as many parents as possible and look forward to further developing partnerships with families in order to support our students to achieve the maximum learning outcomes. Our annual golf day and dinner fundraiser is quickly approaching on 29 March. I have included the invitation in this edition and it is also on our website. In addition the ticketing system has been set up and it can be accessed at https://tickets.lup.com.au/cromehurst- charity-golf-day. There is also a link on this page to the Galabid site for anyone who is unable to attend but would like to make a donation or participate in our online silent auction. The direct link to this page is www.galabid.com/ cromehurst. Finally, the date for our first P&C meeting has yet to be set. We will be seeking your feedback about availability for P&C meetings at the parent information evening. All parents are welcome to attend our P&C meetings, they are a great opportunity for parents to connect socially and to contribute to discussions and P&C business. Regards. Christine
