Croft Mill is in the heart of Hebden Bridge which has
been described as the jewel in the crown of the
South Pennines. It certainly is a real gem of a holiday
destination. The town rapidly expanded during the
Victorian Age when it made a major contribution to
the Yorkshire textile industry. Although this industry
has all but disappeared, its heritage is here for all to
see and many of the old industrial buildings have
been imaginatively converted for new purposes.
Croft Mill is a fine example of one of these
conversions and retains many of its original features,
the most obvious being its splendid chimney.
Today Hebden Bridge is known as the “Town of Little
Shops” and has been voted one of the best places in
Britain to visit. It has a wealth of independent retailers
who together provide a simply unique shopping
experience complemented by the buzzing street
cafes, bars and restaurants. All of this is within easy
walking distance of Croft Mill.
The surrounding area is a walkers’ and cyclists’
paradise but for those wishing to travel further afield
the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and the Peak
District National Parks are all easily accessible.
The excellent cultural and business centres of
Manchester and Leeds are a short distance away,
regular direct train services run from Hebden Bridge
station which is only a few minutes walk from
Croft Mill.
