Crestview Local School District March, 2021 Message from the Superintendent Dear Rebel Nation: Happy March !!!! We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. As a community we are blessed with declining cases of COVID and events are beginning to occur. For me, March is a special time! We know that baseball is close, weather is improving, the daylight gets longer, and we celebrate St. Patricks Day! I cannot wait to see if our kindergarten students can catch that leprechaun this year! In this edition, we have some wonderful accomplishments to celebrate academically, artistically, and athletically. Most importantly, we will return to five days a week instruction for the 4th grading period. We also know that we will have an in person Prom and Graduation ceremony as long as the situation allows. Here is the key information: The Crestview Local Schools will be returning to five days a week, in person school, beginning March 29, 2021. This is the beginning of the 4th grading period. We hope that our remote students will return to full in person classes at that time also. However, we will still continue to serve all students, whether they are in person or remote. The final hour of the day will still be dedicated to remote students; however, the remote Fridays will be removed. We have made a promise to serve all populations and we will continue to honor a familys choice to be in person or remote; however, the best place to learn is in person. If you have questions, please feel free to call your building principal. ELEMENTARY IN PERSON TIME - 8:35 AM - 2:15 PM ELEMENTARY REMOTE TIME- 2:30 - 3:30 PM MS & HS IN PERSON TIME - 7:25 AM - 1:20 PM MS & HS REMOTE TIME - 1:30 - 2:30 PM For those of you that are remote, please click the link and answer the short REMOTE STUDENT SURVEY as to your intent for the fourth grading period. If it helps in your decision making, the staff here has been vaccinated and we will continue with all safety protocols. We also remind everyone that testing has not been waived in Ohio. We will be making arrangements for all students to test this spring, which may include our in person students being remote on particular days. I have included a March thru May calendar. We have a few adjusted days on the MS and HS level due to testing. For example, the ACT test will be given on March 9, 2021. We can only have 6 - 8 students in a room We must have two instructors present in each room We must have safety protocols The test is 4 to 5 hours Therefore, all staff is involved with the Juniors; therefore, Freshman, Sophomores, and Seniors will be learning remotely that day. For those students that are remote, we will provide you an environment that will keep you away from the mass population so that you can take your tests and meet graduation requirements. Tests cannot be administered at your home. The tests are critical, especially for HS students. We encourage everyone to take these tests, whether in person or remote. We again cannot thank our families enough for your flexibility this year. You can click the CALENDAR LINK to examine the specifics for March, April, and May. This is the schedule as of now and we will continue to monitor the data. All year, we have made decisions based on data. We will continue that process. We hope the data and the virus will allow us to continue forward. We need your commitment to return, especially on the HS level where courses have to be retaken and Graduation requirements have to be met. If things change, we will adjust again. Sincerely yours, Matthew T. Manley , Superintendent

CALENDAR OF EVENTS March 1 - March 12 - MS Fundraiser

**March 9th - ACT for all Crestview Juniors**

March 19, 20, 21 - Spring Musical - Sister Act March 26 - End of 3rd 9 Weeks

ACT TESTING

All Crestview High School Juniors will be taking the ACT at Crestview High School on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021. Juniors should arrive at the high school before 7:25 a.m. to receive breakfast and find their testing room. All rooms and staff are being utilized to minimize people in a classroom, yet maintain the necessary environment conducive for maximum academic focus and achievement.

All other high school grade levels (9, 10 & 12) will be remote on March 9th. All students will have assignments and work that is due on that date, and should be logged on to their Google Classrooms.

The ACT is a critical part of a student’s junior year, and taking the test at the school is a benefit to all students. The test is free to take, and can be sent to colleges and universities at this time, for free. Even if a student isn’t sure what their future plans are, it is important to take the ACT for the possibility of using the results in the future. For information, contact Mrs. Nappi or Mr. Miller at 330-482-4744.

2021 SPRING MUSICAL - SISTER ACT The Crestview Drama Department will hold their spring musical the weekend of March 19, 20 & 21, 2021. • While we are all remote, in person students will need to follow the in person schedule. When we return to school in person, students can switch to remote at that time by their parent or guardian contacting the building principal.

Please be sure to submit your attendance tracker each morning by 9:00 a.m.! Assignments are given and due daily; please be sure to stay on top of assignments and contact your teachers if you have any questions. Remote Student Attendance Tracker: click Here.
