Creave and Digital Media Producon Who is this course for? The course provides a vocaonal style of educaon and training. It is suitable for students who have an interest in the producon and analysis of media What will you study? This course will focus on different areas of the creave digital media industry that employers and compa- nies have idenfied as desirable skills in employees. Unit 1 works towards a 2 hour exam and is tled Media Representaons”. In this unit, students will study a range of media from different sectors, such as music videos, short film extracts, animaon, news programmes, websites, digital games and print adverts in order to explore how meaning, messages and values are constructed through formal and stylisc elements. Unit 2 works towards a piece of coursework produced in controlled condions and is tled Responding to a Commission”. In this unit, students will understand how to respond to a commission brief with ideas based on the re- quired content, style, audience, purpose and approach proposed by the client. Students will have 5 hours to draſt a proposal that best fits the brief. Unit 3 works towards a piece of coursework and is tled Pre-Producon Porolio”. In this unit, students will gain an understanding of the requirements of the planning stage, from finance and logiscs to regulaons. Your invesgaons will help you develop the pre-producon skills and experi- ence needed to carry out your own tasks and to produce a digital media product. You will create a poro- lio and manage the pre-producon for your own creave media producon. Unit 4 works towards a piece of coursework. You will choose from Film Producon - Ficon”, “Radio Pro- ducon - Ficon”, “Website Producon”, “Digital Games Produconor Digital Magazine Producon”. This unit gives students an opportunity to specialise in a chosen media product area and learn to ulise specialist equipment and soſtware. Equipment and soſtware available to this course includes: PCs containing Adobe Creave Suite and Adobe Premiere Canon Legia HF G25 Camcorder kits Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera kits Rode boom mic kits Studio lighng kits How will I be assessed? The course is broken down into 1 exam unit and 3 coursework units. Course entry requirements Five GCSEs at grade 5 or above in different subjects including English and Maths What can I do with this qualificaon? Rapid growth of the creave media industries in the North West has made this career path increasingly accessible and aracve to young people. Transferable skills like resource management (me, people and budgets), planning, negoaon, research and communicaon are also strengthened. The vocaonal approach to this course could lead students straight into work in the creave media industries or onto higher educaon courses. Creative and Digital Media Production Who is this course for? The course provides a vocational style of education and training. It is suitable for students who have an

interest in the production and analysis of media

What will you study? This course will focus on different areas of the creative digital media industry that employers and compa-

nies have identified as desirable skills in employees.

Unit 1 works towards a 2 hour exam and is titled “Media Representations”.

In this unit, students will study a range of media from different sectors, such as music videos, short film

extracts, animation, news programmes, websites, digital games and print adverts in order to explore how

meaning, messages and values are constructed through formal and stylistic elements.

Unit 2 works towards a piece of coursework produced in controlled conditions and is titled “Responding

to a Commission”.

lio and manage the pre-production for your own creative media production.

Unit 4 works towards a piece of coursework. You will choose from “Film Production - Fiction”, “Radio Pro-

duction - Fiction”, “Website Production”, “Digital Games Production” or “Digital Magazine Production”.

This unit gives students an opportunity to specialise in a chosen media product area and learn to utilise

specialist equipment and software.

Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera kits

Rode boom mic kits

Studio lighting kits

Students at Glossopdale Sixth Form make outstanding progress. 2018 results show

year on year improvements. The average A Level grade achieved is now a B grade.

25% of entries achieved A* or A, 41% achieved A* - B and 77% achieved A*-C. 73% of
