Destiny, DeKalb County’s Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), has
many helpful features for educators and

and Resource Lists
You do not need to log in to Destiny to search by strand, but you will need to be logged in to
create a resource list.
You never know when you will find something useful, so it is best to get into the habit of logging in
when you open Destiny.
To login, simply enter your employee number
(e followed by 8 numbers)for the username and
mydestiny as the password.
Create a Resource ListIn the Left Navigation
Area, click Resource Lists
On the right, click Add List
Now, Name your List. For example, Credit Cards
Click Make this List Publicif you want your students
to be able to access this list.
Now, Save.
Searching by Strand
Once you are logged in, click the Catalog tab
Then click Standards Search in the Left Navigation bar.
Click your Content Area
Then Select the Grade Level
Now, select your Strand
Select your Topic
and Select your Standard
Click Find it, next to your Standard.
You can now save your results as a Resource
List.
The default display is materials in the library, but you can also save
Online Materials to a Resource List.
Doing this for your students provides them with vetted sources, saving time.
To display Online Materials, select the Web Sites tab, at
the top right.
For Standard SSEPF4 (The student will evaluate the
costs and benefits of using credit) There are 268 websites to choose
from.
You can reserve library time for your students to access
these websites for a project,
or send a student runner to see if there is space
available to send small groups.
