2016-2017 Clover Kids

Registration for the 2016-2017 Clover Kids program will begin September 6

and close on October 1. Registration forms will be sent home with all youth

in first through third grades in Crawford County School Districts (Denison,

Schleswig, IKM-Manning, ARWEVA, Boyer Valley) and Private Schools.

This year, the Clover Kids program will focus on the 4 H’s of 4-H, what they

mean, and what youth can do to serve their clubs, communities, countries,

and world. Youth will participate in many hands-on activities designed to

build lots of different life skills in a group setting.

If you would like more information on Clover Kids or how to register your

youth, please call the Crawford County Extension Office at (712)263-4697.

Go to: https://iowa.4honline.com (you may want to bookmark this page) Use Firefox or Chrome as a browser!

Click “I have a profile” and enter your family email address you provided to the Extension Office

Enter your password that your family has chosen. If you forgot your password, choose “I forgot my password” and click send my password. Open your email browser and find the email from 4hOnline and locate your temporary password. Return to 4hOnline and click “I have a profile” and re-type your email and the new password that was sent to your email address. Paste or type your password exactly as sent by 4hOnline as it is case sensitive. Choose “Family” from the “Role” drop-down box. Click log in. You can update your password if you had forgotten it, but if you remem-bered it you will skip this step.

Re-enroll by changing your status from inactive to active. You will be taken to the member list which includes all family members enrolled in 4-H: members, leaders, and volunteers. Click “edit” to the right of the “Inactive” member listed. On the Personal Information screen, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Enroll for 2016-2017.” Now you will have an editable Personal Information screen. Please complete all information that applies to you. Fields in BOLD are required. When you have completed this page, click “Continue.”

Update Additional Information page. All fields are required. When you have completed this page, click “Continue.”

Update your Health Form. Check all health conditions and allergies that apply. When you have completed this page, click “Continue.”

Update clubs and/or project areas. Your primary club will be listed and then click “Continue.” If you wish to add or delete project areas you may do so at this point. Hit “Submit Enrollment Form.” Your enrollment status will show “Pending.” Your enrollment will be marked “Active” when the office accepts your enrollment.

Follow the same directions as above when logging in but when you arrive at the Member List, select “Youth” on the drop down under Add a New Family Member. Click add member.

Follow the same steps when filling out the Personal Information screen, the Additional Information page, and the Health Form. When you arrive at the club screen, you will need to select your primary club and click “Add” and then click “Continue.”

Setup a profile. Go to https://iowa.4honline.com. Choose “I need to setup a profile.” Choose Crawford from the drop down menu for the county. Complete the information. Choose “Family” from the “Role” drop down box. Click “Log In.”

Enter Family Information. You will be taken to the Family Information Page. Complete all of your personal information. Click “Continue.”

Enter member information. You are now at the member list page. Select “Youth” on the drop down under “Add a New Family Member.” Click “Add Member.” Follow the same steps when filling out the Personal Information screen, the Additional Information page, and the Health Form. When you arrive at the club screen, you will need to select your primary club and click “Add” and then click “Continue.”

New 4-H Judges Training—Saturday, September 24

You can join the ranks of being a 4-H judge by attending a new 4-H Judges Training on Saturday, September 24 at the Polk County Extension Office, Des Moines. You will learn from Iowa State University Extension 4-H Youth Development staff and experienced 4-H Judges how to evaluate, educate and encourage 4-Her’s exhibiting at county fairs. Youth Committee

Youth Committee is an advisory committee comprised of adults and senior 4-H members. The committee meets once a month and is in place to oversee the 4-H Youth Program in Crawford County. Duties of the committee include but are not limited to: organizing fundraisers, implementing rules and procedures, and directing youth activities. We are looking for 3 youth members who are looking to make a difference in Crawford County. If you are interested in becoming a member or would like to learn more about this opportunity, please stop by the Extension Office or contact us at 263-4697.

County 4-H Youth Council

Leadership Opportunity—Youth Committee Youth Member

Youth Committee is an advisory committee comprised of adults and senior 4-H members. The committee meets once a month and is in place to oversee the 4-H Youth Program in Crawford County. Duties of the committee include but are not limited to: organizing fundraisers, implementing rules and procedures, and directing youth activities. We are looking for 4 adults (parents, leaders, volunteers) who are passionate about the success and development of 4-H youth in Crawford County. If you are interested in becoming a member, please stop by the Extension Office or contact us at 712-263-4697.

Senior 4-H members (grades 9-12) in Crawford County are encouraged to apply to be a member of County Council. County Council is designed to develop leadership skills in its members by planning, organizing, and running different events throughout the year as well as participating in leadership retreats. Members are required to help with National 4-H Week, Awards Banquet, fair events, livestock weigh-ins, and other events as needed.

Youth will have the hands-on opportunity to plan the Bake Sale fundraiser, Ag Olympics, and other events that they feel would benefit the county during any time of the year. There will also be an opportunity for youth to attend a regional leadership retreat in September. Meeting dates and times will be set once members are selected to best work with everyone’s schedules.

Senior 4-H members who are interested may pick up an application at the Extension Office or call and ask for one to be sent via email. Present County Council members are asked to re-apply. The application is due to the Extension Office no later than September 15.

4-H Safety and Education in Shooting Sports, Sept. 23-25, 2016, Iowa 4-H Center, Madrid, IA. $150 early registration (deadline 9/1/2016), $175 registration (deadline 9/15/2016). Registration is open to youth entering 4th through 8th grade 2016-2017 school year and who are enrolled in 4-H. At camp youth will have opportunity to explore the SESS program by trying new skills, meeting new friends and making connections with County Shooting Sports Clubs. Hunter Safety training will be provided. Opportunities to develop skills in Archery, Air Rifle, Shotgun-Trap, Muzzleloader and Wildlife will be provided. Extension Assistant Program Coordinator — The Crawford County Extension Council is seeking a qualified person to serve as an Extension Assistant Program Coordinator for Crawford County and ISU Extension and Outreach programs. This position is full-time (32 hours per week), including nights and weekends. Qualifications: Associate Degree or relevant work experience, team player, dependable, self-motivating and able to work with limited supervision. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation and pass a background screening.
