WELCOME TO BIZARRE BAZAAR! This term is going to be dedicated to you and your team learning about design, using your imagination and creativity and producing a product for sale at (enter the location of the sale for your students here). Your product is going to be soooo good that you will need to produce at least four of them for sale. But let’s not forget the main aim of Bizarre Bazaar … raising money for disadvantaged children around the world. You will need to advertise the charity you have chosen (if you completed the Social Justice unit last term you will have already decided this) and accept donations on the day of the Bazaar as well as donating any profits that you make from the sale of your products. PROFIT? Nothing gets made for free, so throughout the unit you will have to ‘buy’ your resources and keep a cash book showing all of your expenses and, eventually, the money you made from the sales. There’s a lot to producing a new product so you’ll be learning about, and putting into practice, market research, the design process, advertising techniques, point of sale displays, creative and critical thinking skills and production planning to help you make a fabulous product. You will be working in a team of three as our ideas can always be improved by someone else’s input. You will be given an assessment rubric to make sure that you have got all of the elements covered. Why is it called BIZARRE Bazaar?? Because, regardless of the product you decide to make it has to have a unique element that has never before been included in the design or production of that type of product. What does that mean? Well … here is an example. Someone L4 Creativity – Bizarre Bazaar ©Inter@ct (interactschools.com)

Someone once decided that it was annoying to have your sleeves ride up your arm so …

they added a thumb-hole!

What are you going to add to your product to make it bizarrely unique? HAVE FUN!
