Onaero Planting Trip On Monday, 15th June we have been invited by the NPDC to take part in a planting adventure at the Onaero River Mouth. We have 1000 plants to get in the ground so it should be fun! We will be joined by the staff from the NPDC and Ngati Mutunga. We will leave school at 10am, start planting at 10:30am, have lunch when we are finished and maybe a bit of play and then head back to school. Students and parent helpers need to bring gumboots, a rain jack-et, lunch and a water bottle. We also still need more parents to help with transport and planting. Please return the permission/transport slip on Skool Loop ASAP.

A Message from the Community Oral Health Service The effects of COVID-19 have been widely felt, and as a nation we have had the opportunity to protect those we love by being in lockdown. Alt-hough the Community Oral Health Service is an essential service and worked through lockdown, we were severely restricted in Levels 3 + 4 by the Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ), and we were only permitted to provide emergency and urgent dental care which we did from two clinics, one each in Hawera and New Plymouth. Now that we are in Level 1, DCNZ have advised we may see more chil-dren, providing we adhere to new restrictions which affects the number of children which may be seen each day. In order to comply with these restrictions, as well as ensure we are able to provide care to those who need it the most, we have had to pri-oritise children according to their clin-ical need. This means that we will be continuing to see those who were under treatment before lockdown and those who have teeth that are sore or need treatment. Unfortunately for the

time being we will not be able to complete routine exams (check-ups). As soon we are able, we will be con-tacting parents and caregivers to of-fer appointments for exams, but until then our teams are working very hard to care for the children who need dental treatment to manage pain and infection. However if any child has any dental pain or concerns, parents should phone 0800 825 583, and they will be able to speak to some-one who can help them.
