management programme last year under
preventive health care. Under the
programme, a waste collection and disposal
centre was established. Door-to-door waste
collection was done and was segregated and
treated at the centre. The programme has
now reached its next level with a pilot project
on 'Segregation at source' in Hassanpur
village. Almost 80% of the households have
started segregating waste at household
level. Some of them have started bio-
composting within their premises itself.
Gangs of Hassanpur
LF Foundation has identified 16 natural
leaders in village Hassanpur through an Dintensive triggering exercise on waste
management and open defecation. They are now
leading community mobilization processes and are a
part of all the developmental interventions in the area.
DLF Foundation is providing all support to them with
knowledge and resources to lead as change agents.
The team identified five households to be practicing
open defecation and through involvement of the
Panchayat, the households have their own toilets and

LF Shiksha School in the Mohyal Colony (Sector-40) now has two additional classrooms and an impressive stage for D
conducting cultural programmes, which has enhanced the appearance of the whole complex.
Nutritious mid-day meal is served to all the students daily. More recently, a team of 36 representatives of the Aid Matrix International Food Bank visited the Mohyal Colony School to have first hand experience of utilization of their contribution towards the mid-day meal. They loved serving food to the children and enjoyed dancing with artists in the cultural programme organized on the occasion.
To promote the creativity and painting skills of the students, DLF Shiksha Schools organised a drawing competition, which saw a participation of over 100 students.
With the growing number of girl students in the age group of 10-14 years, it was considered prudent to make them aware of certain vital aspects of this stage of life. Therefore, a talk was organized with the help of Dr. (Mrs.) Promila Handa of Chikitsa which was attended by about 60 girls and all the lady teachers. Dr. Handa covered the issue of sexual harassment also, which was much appreciated by the parents of the students.

he 23rd International Children Painting
Competition was held on March 10, 2014 and was Tsupported by DLF Limited and facilitated by
GlobalHunt Foundation. This year the theme for
competition was 'Food Waste: Save the Planet-Save
Food, Wasting Food is Wasting the Planet.' Under the
guidance of Ms. Meenakshi Singh and Mr. Anupam of DLF
Foundation, the event saw the huge participation of
more than 200 underprivileged children.
Through DLF, the children were given an opportunity to
exhibit their ideas and views on a social issue which
requires the participation of young minds. The event also
marked an opportunity for the children to learn and
imbibe the practices of saving the earth by preventing
food waste.
Every year since 1991, UNEP has been organizing
painting competition for underprivileged children. The
competition gives opportunity to children to spread their
colourful message through paintings and posters.
