“Mandarin & Cantonese, the Chinese languages arespoken by almost one sixth of the population. Almostthe same numbers for Hindi & other vernacular Indianlanguages. English is only 5%, 360 millions and yet wespend all our energy on learning English. It is fashionableto learn French in school which is only 1% – yours trulyhas also done a 2 years diploma course in French.

In school, nursery, KG to 12th & subsequently in collegeto too we are taught English. English Grammar. It wouldbe interesting to know that when we communicate, thelanguage is only 5%, 45% is the tone & 50% is bodylanguage. Our all focus is on the 5% part and we neverever learn about the 95% part of tone & body language.

Today, we have yet again invited Ms. Rini Bahal to givean interesting session on this very important aspect ofCommunication skill. Ms. Bahal gave a presentation tous in 2011, some 5 years back. This is a repeatperformance. In Bollywood parlance, a revision movie.

AURANGABAD BRANCH

IIMM Aurangabad have conducted evening trainingprogram on “Strategic Sourcing“on 19th November 20,2016; at Institute of Management Training and Research( IMTR ) Aurangabad. Faculty for this program was Mr.Milind Ghogale, who is Head of Materials, Grind Masters,Aurangabad.

This program was mainly for the GDMM student.Concept of Strategic sourcing competence was nicelyexplained by Mr. Milind Ghogale. Various factors relatedto Strategic Sourcing were discussed this interactivesession. Around 40 people including students and fromdifferent industries like Endurance Group, NRB BearingsSkoda Auto, Videocon group, etc. had attended thisprogram. Chairman Dr. .Narendra Joshi briefed aboutthe branch activities and focus areas of IIMM. He alsoappealed for becoming IIMM members to delegates, whoare not IIMM members.

Introduction to the faculty was done by Vice ChairmanMr. K. Srihari . Proceedings were done by Mr. LalitLohade. Along with Chairman Dr.Narendra Joshi, ViceChairman Mr. K. Srihari & Hon.Secretary Mr.SushantPatare, National council members Mr. P.P.Reddy, Mr.S.J.Sanghai , Mr. Jitesh Gupta, Mr. R D Jaulkar, Mr. LalitLohade and all Executive Committee Members tookefforts to make this event successful.

14.10.2016 – Half a day Study Circle Meeting on SupplyChain and Logistics Management: Half a day Study CircleMeeting conducted for MBA Management Studiesstudents of Vivekananda College of Management,Rajajinagar Nagar, Bangalore. Mr. D. Subramani, VicePresident (South) –IIMM has handled the session onSupply Chain and Logistics Management and interactedwith Faculty and Students of Management Studies.Students were mesmerized by his talk and session andalso there were Question and Answer session which wasknowledge sharing for every students of the day.

Hon. Treasurer Mr B Ramesh read out a treasurer’s reportand thanked our internal auditor Mr Moti Philip, FCAand national auditors in Mr Ambesh Dave along and theNHQ coordination for speedy completion of our accountsfor the year 2015-2016. The statutory auditor has givena satisfactory report on our favour without any adverseobservations. The Treasurer’s report was proposed byMr T A B Barati and seconded by Mr T N Srinivasan. Withthe above our AGM comes to an end.

During the AGM our First National President Mr VHariharan who had come and appreciated our activitiesespecially on our recent One year internationalaccreditation course on Supply Chain Management. TheAGM was well attended by the members, formerchairmen and distinguished members of Chennai branch.

Annual Get Together : After the AGM, AGT was followed.In AGT, the members and their families participated andenjoyed the evening with musical ensembles. The ChiefGuest of the day was Mr Juzar Mustan, Country Head &Director, Toll (India) Logistics Pvt.Ltd., in his inspiringspeech, he highlighted his experiences of successthrough innovation. AGT comes to an end withsumptuous dinner to all present well taken care off bythe volunteers.

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of IndianInstitute of Materials Management, Hubli Branch heldon 28th September, 2016 at the Branch Premises, Hubli- 580020.

1) Chairman Mr.M.C Hiremath took over the chair andcalled the meeting to order.

2) Dr. Gabriel Pillay,Honorary Secretary confirmed thequorum and with the permission of the Chairmanhe read the notice convening the meeting.

3) Honorary Secretary presented the Annual Reportgiving the details of various activities of the Branchfor the year 2015-16.

4) Mr. M.C Hiremath in the Chairman’s Report,elaborated the activities of the branch.

5) Resolved that M/s Chandbhoy & Jasobhoy beappointed as auditors for the year ending 31st March2017, Their remuneration will be fixed by theNational HQ and the same will be paid to them.Incidental expenses will be borne by the Branch.

6) During the meeting, Members were advised toconduct short duration certificate courses E-learning, In house training programs, facultydevelopment courses lecture programs membershipdrive and also exploring the possibility of rentingthe branch premises for other professionaldevelopmental activities.

7) Suggestions:

One Day Workshop on ‘Managing Sourcing &Procurement of Services (Excellence in ServicesProcurement) : IIMM, Mumbai branch had organized aOne Day Workshop on ‘Managing Sourcing &Procurement of Services’ on 8th October, 2016 at itsGoregaon office, Mumbai.

This was a unique program about excellence inpurchasing & procurement , Negotiations Skills, etc.specially designed for services, real estate, turn key

projects etc.

Mr. B V Iyer and Mr. S M Haldankar were the tworespected faculties who designed the program contentsand delivered with excellent presentations skills andmanner. They covered topics like Porter’s model, Kralijeckmodel, purchasing process, Negotiations, service cost /Value, Servqual Gaps, difference between procurementof materials and services, practical case studies,questions & answers etc.

The workshop was very interactive and was attended byparticipants from variety of companies like Ceramic Tiles,EPC, Digital Print Media,Chemical, Fabrication &Engineering, Healthcare etc.

It was very interactive and useful program fromparticipants point of view and was appreciated by all.

The feedback received was excellent.

One Day Interactive Workshop on ‘GST’ / Being readyfor GST : IIMM, Mumbai had organized a One DayInteractive Workshop on ‘GST’’ to become Being GSTReady from implementation point of view, The workshopwas held on 19th October, 2016 at Hotel KohinoorContinental, Andheri (East) Mumbai. The workshop wasinaugurated by Mr. Ashok Mhatre, Chairman, MumbaiBranch.

Mr. S M Kulkarni , the famous Tax Consultant and Ex VPIndirect Taxes, Mahindra & Mahindra was the respectedfaculty for the program. Nearly 45 delegates from allcorners of the nation and from various industriesattended the program . The program was very interactiveand informative. Mr. Kulkarni answered almost all thequeries raised by diverse group of participants

In line with inputs from Mr. Ashok Mhatre, the programhad specific emphasis on Supply management,/ Logisticson practical aspects of implementation like estimationof impact on inventory and working capital, likelysourcing , manufacturing strategy changes, possiblelogistics network & transportation decisions post GST,similarly highlighting key saving drivers, negative driversof GST etc.

The spectrum of participants profile was ranging fromJunior Officers to the level of GMs, VPs from various topcompanies.

10 DAYS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR DRUK GREENPOWER CORPORATION LTD., BHUTAN : IIMM PuneBranch once again had the opportunity to conduct Cer-tification Program for Druk Green Power CorporationLtd., Bhutan. The training program is for 10 days, 21st -30th November 2016. The Certification Program is onStores, Inventory & Procurement Management. A teamof 7 members from Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd.,Bhutan arrived Mumbai on 20th November 2016.

The program was inaugurated on 21st November by ourPune Branch chairman Mr. K R Nair. Mr. S K Murthy in-troduced the team from Bhutan. This was followed by asession by Branch Chairman Mr. K R Nair on IntegratedMaterials Management. Chairman welcomed everyonepresent and hoped that the 10 days training will add totheir knowledge and they will implement good practicesin their organization. Mr. K R Nair also informed that avisit to factory is also arranged where they can learnabout best practices in Store Keeping. THIRUVANNTHAPURAM BRANCH

The Annual General Meeting of IIMM Thiruvanntha-puram Branch for 2015-16 was held on 05-11-2016(Saturday) at 5.30 PM at the IIMM office hall. Afterascertaining the quorum, Chairman Dr. Koshy M Georgedeclared the meeting open. The meeting started with asilent prayer. Chairman in his opening address briefedthe details of the functions conducted during the reportperiod and also the preparations done for conductingthe National Seminar on “Management of StrategicMaterials”. Further, he gave an account of theprogrammes proposed for the current year includingtalks by eminent personnel on Materials Managementrelated subjects, Seminar on GST, issuing pocket diariesfor all members etc. and requested all past Chairmen,NC Members and other members to actively participatein hosting the functions as well as on our plan to enhancemembership.

Secretary Shri K Raveendra Prasad presented the workingreport for 2015-16, which was discussed andunanimously approved by the AGM. Treasurer Shri MJanardhanan presented the audited Accounts of theBranch . After detailed discussion the AGM unanimouslyapproved the accounts.

During the discussions members expressed satisfactionon the success of the programmes held during the yearand specifically the National Seminar on “Managementof Strategic Materials” held in April, 2016 with wideparticipation from Space & Defense Units, Aerospace andrelated Industries. The AGM also gave approval to goahead with seminar on GST with possible participationof Kerala Government Officials. Some of the membersexpressed concern over the declining trend of enrolmentfor our courses. Vice Chairman, Shri R Sivanandanproposed vote of thanks. DRAWING COMPETITION 2016 ON CHILDREN’S DAY ;In order to promote Drawing Skills & Imagination Talentsof Children, IIMM Vadodara branch organises on theoccasion of Children’s Day, a programme of ‘On the SpotDrawing Competition’ for Children of IIMM Members.This year it was organized on 13th November 2016(Sunday) at Sardar Patel Planetorium in Sayaji Gardenwherein 10 participants took part from Group A (3-8 Yrs)& 16 participants took part from Group B (9-14 Yrs). TheChildren had to bring their own colouring material forcompetition while Drawing paper was provided to them.All participants were given Snacks at the Venue &
