“Funky Fish”Mini Collection/ Diamond Club Release

“Butterflies and Bees” Mix & Match Collection

We wanted to create designs for summer clothing and we thought tropical fish would be a great idea. We decided to make the fish whimsical with unique personalities and colors. There are 17 different fish all for the 5”x 7” hoop. These Funky Fish will look great on anything you embroider them on.

We embroidered them on clothing that we purchased.

Designing for todd lers a nd young boys is very difficult; the designs need to be youthful and fun without being baby designs. We decided to do retro Outer Space designs. There are aliens, ray guns, space dogs and cats, spaceships and more... We even used clear

plastic as appliqué for the helmets!

“Musical Instruments”Full Collection/Diamond Club Release

Musical Instruments is a theme that has been requested for years but I never knew how to create the designs and put a unique spin on them. We decided after many meetings and mock ups to create the instruments in tonal colors and to add paisley flourishes to them. The end result is stunning. Musical Instruments

contains 20 jumbo designs that come in multiple sizes. There are also smaller designs that compliment the larger ones. For the project we decided to create towel sets. There are additional tutorials on the CD-ROM including the Home Decor tutorial that shows you how to embroider on towels.

“Outer Space”Mini Collection

These designs are perfect for a summer quilt. This is not our f irst Butterf ly collection but it is our first Mix and Match Butterfly c o l l e c t i o n and instead of creat ing t he collection with just Butterf lies there are bees included as well. There are 10

Butterflies and 10 Bees in this collection that included beautiful quilted backgrounds and stippling. There are also 4 different transitional blocks to use in your quilts. Best of all this is like 2 collections in one! Each of the Butterflies and Bees come by themselves without the backgrounds.

“Shrinky Flowers ”Projects Collection

“Notebook Covers”Projects Collection

Shrinky Flowers are not created using standard appliqué techniques; instead they are created in a two-step process. The first step is to create the unique fabric by combining your fabric with Heat N Shrink stabilizer. When steamed, the Heat N Shrink shrinks the fabric 30% and creates interesting patterns. You then use the

shrunken fabric as the appliqué fabric on the your flowers.

Notebook Covers are a fun way to decorate and personalize any composition notebook. This fast and easy Project is complimented by fun and funky designs; great for that tween who has everything.

These appliqué designs allow for a fun mix of colors and novelty fabrics. The Project features playful fabrics and designs with elastic to keep all those important notes together in style!

Painting on fabric has come a long way with the introduction of new markers designed specifically for this application. Along with that is the cost of these new markers so, we tried using Sharpie markers and was quite successful. Those markers now come in array of colors at half the price of fabric markers. The blender marker we used was a Prisma Color (colorless marker) which can be found at craft and artist supply stores. If you follow these instructions and add the blending marker you will get some nice results.

Once you have completed the painting process and blended the colors with the blending pen, let the project dry. After it has dried run a dry iron over your painted fabric to heat set the colors.

The design we used in this demonstration was from our Mix & Match Traditions collection. On the following pages are some of our collections (and part numbers if you want to order)that have running stitch designs that we think would be perfect for this fabric painting technique.

When we were brain storming about this idea our immediate thought was of the “Story Time Kids” collection. This collection would perfect for the fabric painting technique. It would be a great idea to stitch these cute designs and create a story book with them and then let your children or grandchildren paint the designs! Just by adding some color on the fabric could change the whole over all look to any quilt or project! So have fun and experiment a little with this exciting fabric painting technique.
