MAJOR CORE COURSES FOR THE 1ST & 2ND YEARS

Microeconomics I

Microeconomics I: The main purpose is to help students study systematically advanced microeconomics, including basic concepts, basic theory and related mathematical deduction. At the same time, we aim to improve students' ability for theoretical research. Contents contain producer theory, consumer theory and market theory. Market behavior analysis is major part of market structure. Finally, the application of microeconomics involves international trade, government decision-making and environmental protection.

Microeconomics II

Microeconomics aims to introduce the basic concepts and techniques in microeconomics, to improve students’ economic sense, and presentⅡ an analytic approach of microeconomics that would allow students to apply these tools analyze the real world problems. The course is concerned with the behavior of individual economy. Main topics include five parts. First, the consumer theory, included budget constraint, preference, utility, optimal choice, demand, Slutsky equation and so on; Second, the producer theory, included technology. Profit maximization, cost minimization, cost curve, firm supply, industry supply and so on; Third, the industry organization, included perfect competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition and oligopoly; Fourth, the general equilibrium, included exchange and welfare analysis; and the Last the game theory and information economics, included perfect and imperfect information game theory, static and dynamic game theory, adverse selection and moral hazard.

Macroeconomics I

The course aims to provide a basic understanding of the theoretical foundations of macroeconomics at the advanced level. Topics include growth models such as neoclassical growth model and endogenous growth, theories of business cycles such as the New Classical and New Keynesian approaches. Monetary and fiscal policy will also be concerned in this course.On completion of this course, students should be able to:1. Master the basic theory models of growth.2. Identify the framework and method of RBC.3. Master the core mechanisms of Keynesian theory of fluctuations.4. Apply the theories to analyze the real world economy.

Macroeconomics II

Microeconomics aims to introduce the basic concepts and techniques in macroeconomics, to help students understand the whole theoreticalⅡ framework of macroeconomics, to improve the students’ ability of problem –solving, that is to use the figures or mathematical tools to analyze the real world problems. The course is concerned with the behavior of the economy as a whole. Main topics include five parts. First, the national income accounting; Second, the long-run economic growth model, included the neoclassical growth model and the endogenous model; Third, the short-run economic fluctuations, the IS-LM model and AD-AS Model; Fourth, macroeconomic management, included objectives, monetary and fiscal

policies and difficulties; and the Last the behavioral foundations, included consumption and investment.

Management

The main purpose of the management course is to let students master the basic theory and tools of management. This course focuses on the basic management concepts such as management, organization, management function, organization culture, plan, strategy human resource management, group and leadership, etc. This course introduces the important management theory, such as enterprise culture theory, competition strategy theory, organization behavior theory, leadership theory, motivation theory, control theory, etc. This course will provide many management tools such as SWOT analysis, Gunter chart, PERT, performance review model, etc. This course will provide many cases for the students to discuss; through case studying the students can understand and master the concepts better.

Business Statistics

In business and economics, statistics inference plays an important role. It gives managers and decision makers a better understanding of the business and economic environment. This course is concerned with the basic theory of statistics for students in business and economics. It contains three parts: basic concept, estimation and inference. It emphases the combination of theory and application.

Accounting

The course is designed for students who will become managers and users of financial statements. It can help students develop skills, such as techniques, analysis and interpretations, related to economic transactions and accrual-based financial statements. The goal of this course is to help students understand the follows: (1) the principles underlying financial reporting, revenue recognition, and the matching of expenses; (2) financial statement presentation; (3) accounting for assets and liabilities.

International Business Law

"International Business Law" is a international trade professional teaching program in the core curriculum. This course is in close connection with the theory and practice of international trade policy of foreign business characteristics with a very practical applied science, economics,

finance, business and management professional required course. The purpose of this course is to enable students not only to master the theory of international commercial law, policy, legal knowledge, knowledge of international trade practices, but also have a rich international business knowledge and analytical ability to deal with the problem of the foreign trade business. Curriculum task: through learning the course, students master the basic principles of international trade, basic knowledge and basic skills and methods of English as a tool to carry out the business of foreign trade and economic cooperation in the future to adapt to the needs of the community both skilled master foreign languages while versatile talents to work in foreign trade. Enable students to master the basic aspects of the work of the import and export business, to master the trading conditions for foreign trade contracts, the terms of the contract negotiations and the signing of foreign trade contracts with the performance of work and more skilled, while the phenomenon of breach of contract precautionary and properly handle claims, claims work, skilled resolution and prevention of international commercial disputes.

Econometrics

This focus of this course is provides the theory and methods to the postgraduate student. It contains three parts: Regression analysis with cross-sectional data, Regression analysis with time series data and advanced topics. Each econometrics method is motivated by a particular issue. The objective is on understanding and interpreting the assumptions in light of actual empirical applications under a particular environment. The emphasis will be on applying econometrics to real-world problems.

MarketingPrinciple of Marketing is a basic and compositive course in the subjects of marketing system, and it’s also the one combined theory with practice. The content of this course includes general idea, concept, system, strategy and implementation. The course is designed to introduce marketing principle and its application, to excite students’ interests to think about and solve some marketing questions in theories and practice. With business management’ stands, the course will be taught through analyses of marketing theories and cases.

Marketing (Taught in English)

Marketing represents a way of conducting business, it is an orientation designed to relate the business firm to the world around it. This course will focus on introducing the basic background theories and conceptual frameworks useful in solving real marketing management problems. Being a survey course, most aspects of marketing management will be covered at a primary level. We shall be exploring the marketing concepts and the various tools that marketers use in making decisions. Sub-topics include marketing planning, customer satisfaction, SWOT

analysis, PEST environmental scanning, segmentation, differentiation and positioning, marketing information systems, market and buyer behavior, the dynamics of the Marketing Mix (4Ps), industries and competitors analysis, generic marketing strategies and marketing program implementation and control will be discussed as well.

Financial Accounting

Financial Accounting is a basic and professional course of Accounting Major. Based on the Enterprise accounting system of China and the Accounting Criteria for Enterprises, it introduces the specific accounting methods and operating methods in the Chinese enterprises accounting practices. This finance course is to develop knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles and concepts relating to financial accounting and technical proficiency in the use of double-entry accounting techniques including the preparation of basic financial statements.

Taxation

This course provides an introduction to the theory of tax and principles of tax design, and helps students master the principles of taxation and their applications in tax practices. This course consists of two major parts: part one introduces the theory of tax; part two introduces principles of tax design with emphasis on tax practices. This course is designed to develop the real ability of students to solve common tax problems in a

standard way, especially who intend to pursue careers in undertaking tax research,tax governance and tax design jobs.

The Economics of Money and Banking

This course provides an overview of the operating mechanism of the money, banking and financial markets. It seeks to provide an understanding of how the financial system interacts with the real economy. Research in the areas of money, banking and financial markets is highly active, and deals with issues continuously in the news and the subject of vigorous policy debate. International concerns are also increasingly influencing the direction of discussion on financial economic issues. In th is course, emphasis will be given to the following areas of importance.

(1) Interest rates and financial markets. (2) Management of financial institutions, banking industry and bank regulation

Corporate Law & Commercial Law (ACCA)

Corporate and Business Law is a compulsory course in the ACCA professional teaching program. This course is closely integrated with international business theory and practice, a policy with foreign business, economics, finance, business and management professional electives. The purpose of this course is to enable students not only to master the theory of contract law, policy, legal knowledge, international business practices, and must have rich international business knowledge and analytical ability to deal with the problem of the foreign trade business. Curriculum task: through learning the course, students master the basic principles of international business, the basic knowledge and skills to carry out the business of foreign trade and economic cooperation in the future to adapt to the needs of the community both skilled. College English (Level 1-4)

College English is an integral part of higher education, which the Ministry of Education specifies it as a compulsory course for undergraduate students. Its objective is to help students lay a solid foundation in the English language and develop students’ ability to use English in an all-round way, and at the same time to enhance their ability to study independently and improve their cultural quality so as to meet the needs of our country’s social development and international exchanges.According to the College English Curriculum Requirements laid down by the Ministry of Education, the requirements for undergraduate College English teaching are set at three levels, i.e. basic requirements, intermediate requirements, and higher requirements. The three levels of requirements incorporate knowledge and practical skills of the English language, learning strategies and intercultural communication. The majority of the undergraduate students of our university must meet the intermediate requirements when they finish the first stage of learning (first year and second year). Students are encouraged to accomplish the first stage of learning ahead of schedule within their capacities and

start the second stage of learning to develop their ability to use English.Text books of College English are compiled by famous universities throughout the country. Texts in the books include argumentations, narrations, letters, reports, commentaries, etc. They cover a wide range of fields such as social culture, natural science, biographies, history, geography, etc. College English is assisted with a huge bank of resources, in which there are texts, pictures, audio and video programs. Teachers and students can benefit greatly from this bank of resources.

Advanced Mathematics

First academic term include: limits of sequences and functions; calculus of one variable functions and its applications; mean value theorems and applications; introduction to analytic geometry and vector algebra. This course provides an introduction to the theory of taxation and practice of China’s taxation, and helps students master the principles of taxation and their application in tax laws. This course consists of two major parts: part one introduces the theory of taxation; part two introduces China’s practice of taxation with emphasis on taxation practice and tax laws. Part one includes definition and basic concept of taxation, economic principles of taxation, taxation system, tax law, tax history. Part two includes value-added tax law, consumption tax law, business tax law, resource tax law, customs duties, income tax law on enterprises and individual, property taxation and tax governance. This course is designed to develop the real ability of students to solve common tax problems who intend to pursue careers in undertaking tax

research,tax governance and tax design jobs.

Consumer Behavior

Consumer Behavior is a theoretical and tactical course concerning with how to understand and analyze consumer behavior. Focused on consumer decision making, this course introduces psychology, behaviors and activities how consumer selecting, buying, using, and disposing products, services, experiences and ideas, and their influences on consumer lives and society, as well as factors from internal, external and marketing fields. It also embraces the analysis and insights of Chinese consumer behavior. The course is designed to introduce basic principle and methods to consumer behavior, and to foster student’s capability to conduct analysis on consumer behavior in a realistic society and marketplace, as well as application in developing strategies effective and reasonable.

Financial Statement AnalysisThe course is formed from the teaching by teacher and presentation by students. Teacher main introduce theories, framework, skills and methods in the financial statement analysis. It is constitutive of four parts. Part 1 mainly introduces the concepts and terms of financial statement analysis. Part 2 focus on the framework. Part 3 discusses the main skills and methods of analysis in balance sheet, the income statement, the cash flow statement. Part 4 probes the new views in financial statement analysis.The presentation of students requires them to analysis some assigned case, form the report and present in class as a team. The other students need to comments the presentation.

Financial Engineering

Financial Engineering uses the engineering methods to design, develop and implement innovative financial instruments and processes, and creatively solve problems in finance. The course promotes financial science to a new developing phase, and deeply influences the financial domain and the whole economic field. This curriculum is divided into five sections. At first, the introductory section provides an interesting overview of financial engineering. Secondly, a background section ensures that the students have the necessary analytical tools to appreciate in depth the discussions of financial engineering presented in subsequent chapters. Thirdly, the financial instruments section describes the pricing of futures, forwards, swaps, options. In addition, the section of financial strategies includes innovative financial strategies that have been developed in recent years to manage financial risk and maximize returns. And the last part tells the prospects of financial engineering and the developing trends. This course is not only the core subject for finance, financial engineering, insurance, but also can be useful for the students majoring in economics, management and other specialties.

Financial Institutions Management

The course focuses on the management of financial markets and financial institutions. The course deals with basic questions such as why do financial intermediaries exist, and, why are they considered to be so different from other firms that they need special regulations? In order to form a decision about how to deal with risks, risk management requires first that risks are identified and measured. For financial institutions, successful risk management is crucial for protecting and increasing the value of the firm. The course deals with different types of risks such as systemic risks, interest rate risk, operational risk, credit and liquidity risks. Methods for measuring and managing these risks are presented and used during the course. Against this background, the course discusses the origin and motivation for regulations.

International Trade Settlement

International Settlements plays an important role in the promotion of international trade transactions, international economic and cultural exchanges and international financial integration, which enhance the development of world economy. International Settlements also help to improve national external payments and foreign exchange accumulation in order to attract foreign investment, solidify the foreign exchange rate, increase the output of capital investment.
