A Message from the President
FOUNTAIN HEAD COUNTRY CLUB
Fellow Members of FHCC,
December is a month full of family traditions including many traditions here at Fountain Head. The children and grandchildren will enjoy Brunch with Santa on Sunday, December 3rd. Old Saint Nick will spend quality time with the youngsters and hear their Christmas wishes. Make reservations today if you haven’t already done so.
The annual Candlelight Dinner will be held on Sunday evening, December 17th. This popular event features wonderful preparations by our fine culinary team served in an elegant atmosphere. It’s one of the many Member events that combines fine dining and camaraderie to enhance your holiday experience. Please call Melany to make reservations and make your entree selections in advance.
The Club has arranged for the very popular Carriage Rides through our neighborhood on Saturday, December 23rd. This annual event provides wonderful holiday memories and it includes hot beverages and snacks for the participants. Please make plans to enjoy this great experience and call Melany to make reservations early since this event has sold out in previous years.
This month is also the highlight of the year for young children who try their very best to deserve special treatment by Santa. Children are always welcome to dine with their parents in the lounge since this is our only casual dining area. For the benefit of our younger Members and their children please make them feel comfortable while they enjoy their Club experience. If you are bothered by the presence of children in the lounge
please speak to the manager or the staff and they will be happy to reseat you in another dining area. It is not appropriate to make comments that may embarrass the young parents who are also fellow FHCC Members. Thank you for your kind consideration.
If you are planning family or business gatherings of any size during this holiday season consider making plans to hold your event here at the Club to share our fine dining and hospitality with your friends. Also, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly with any comments, questions or concerns regarding our Club either by email or by text message to my mobile number below.
Please make your cash gift to the Employee Christmas fund before December 8th by contacting Jessica Meyers to request the amount be placed on your club account. The contributions are distributed using a formula based on tenure and present salary and they are a token of our appreciation to all members of our fine Club staff including the many individuals you don’t see on a regular basis.
Enjoy your Club. It’s the best country club value around and the best restaurant in town!

Annual Member SurveyOver the past year Fountain Head staff has worked diligently on gathering information and feedback from the 2016 member survey. We are thankful for those who responded with ideas and suggestions for ways to improve different aspects of the club, and also for words of praise in areas that we continue to succeed in. The following is a recap of what we have done over the past year in response to the issues and concerns addressed by FHCC members.
Club Communications and Events• Using photographs instead of graphics
in monthly newsletter when able• New and Revised Events: NYC Bus Trip,
Tai Chi Classes, Under 40 Happy HourDining and Menu Selections
• Gluten Free Menu Items: more than 50% of our lunch & dinner menus are gluten free. All gluten free selections are denoted on menus.
• More menu items with petite options for lighter fare.
• More Frequent Menu Rotation: We met all of our time tables for menu rotation. 4 rotations in 2017.
• Themed Dinner Nights; oyster night, Italian night, Mexican night, Asian night, sushi night, the smoke-out, rib night, snow crab clusters, steak night. All events run on evenings or weekends. Replaced Home-Style Tuesday’s with fresher, healthier & more exciting options.
• Bistro Menu; Rotated 4 times this year as well. More eclectic menu items.
Christine Divelbiss
• Ethnic Options; Thai quinoa salad, Greek lamb chops, Asian grilled chicken, Asian salad, jerk chicken with mango Caribbean salsa, Cajun shrimp pasta, blackened red snapper with curry, shrimp etouffee, etc.
• Created new concepts in kitchen as we move to create a “from scratch” concept. Breads, rolls, dressings, sauces and desserts are all made in-house. Hope to have 75% scratch by the end of 2018.
Restaurant Service and Dining Experience• Educated FoH staff on the new direction
of FHCC towards scratch concept.• On-going education of FoH staff with all
menu items and daily additions.• We utilized more local distributors to
create fresher, regional dishes. Apples, micro greens, spicy micro greens, BIB lettuce, melons, pea shoots, sno peas, eggs, grapes, cucumbers, romaine lettuce, strawberries.
• Greensburg Farm 2016 $5,802.94 vs. 6,528.90 through September 2017.
• Visited Sysco in June to discuss “Center of the Plate” trends in the Metro area.
• Implemented new cleaning projects including, Brasso door handle, face plate and kick plate applications once a week. Polishing silverware once a month.
Golf• Personal phone calls to new members
and non-engaged members to partici-pate in golf events.
• Play it Forward initiative helping aging membership still enjoy game.
• Continued use of forward tees• Growing PGA Junior League

Tennis• Increased events and programs for the
junior tennis players at the club by adding things like:
– 2 USTA sanctioned junior tournaments for 10 & under and 12 & under kids—tripling the amount of junior age divisions and participation for the club championships
– regular instructional clinics throughout all of August, September & the begin-ning of October—ran our first ever half-day camp for a week which was a success
• Added a member/guest program for the first time in many years by running “bring a guest night” events for both the men and women that were well attended
• Improved the tennis pro shop inventory by offering more tennis inventory than in prior years including FHCC logo embroidered clothing which was well received by members. Also offered more tennis shoes, racquet strings and grip choices than ever before!
• Worked on getting the hard courts and fences redone to improve the quality of the tennis facilities and programs at the club. This is still a work in process, but the project has been approved by the 1924 Society and the Board of Governors to raise funds to cover the expense of resurfacing the hard courts and install-ing new fences. We are hoping to have this project completed by the beginning of the tennis season this coming spring
Pool• Awaiting feedback from Committee
Chair – Dr. DiMercurioPlease take a few moments to
complete the 2017 survey. We would truly appreciate your feedback.
By taking the survey we will have your input for direction as we move into 2018.
Please click the link and take 10-20 minutes to help your club know how you feel.

WOMEN’S CLUB NEWS
9-Hole Women's Golf Executive Committee
Chair: Kathy MarksCo-Chair: Jane LaFleurSecretary: Rosalie RidenourTreasurer: Ginny LindsayMembership: Ruth Ann Snook
Burrrrr...It’s been cold out there but there are still a few of us that have taken advantage of a sunny afternoon to enjoy the beauty of our golf course at this time of year. (Not to say that we were not wishing we were snow birding it down south). Our last official golf was the Pink Ball Scramble and although it was postponed because of weather everyone who participated had a winning day of golf. We want to thank all the generous Ladies of FHCC who donated to this worthy cause. We were able to present a check to Cumberland Valley Breast Cancer Awareness for $1,350.
Pink Ball Scramble winners were:
1st Place Ginger Fennel, Brenda Ardinger, and Fran Sciulla Score: 38
2nd Place Rosalie Ridenour, Sue Fiedler, and Linda Carpenter Score: 39
3rd Place Adele Schwartz and Barbara Driscoll Score: 42
As everyone is preparing for the Holidays, we hope you are also enjoying the outdoors. If you're
in the area and the forecast is promising, text or email the group to
put together a pickup game. Enjoy the winter golfing season.
The 9 Hole Executive Committee would like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May this season bring you the
gifts of peace, hope and joy.
