7 ARCHITECTURE ON SHOW 2015
City of Ryde has recently agreed to support the Australian Institute of Architecture to deliver a series of ‘Architecture on Show’ talks. ‘Architecture on Show’ provides a platform for leading architects, planners and academics to present their projects and ideas to the general public and their colleagues.
City of Ryde will join a growing number of Councils which are working with the Institute to increase community understanding on architecture and the role of the architect in bringing ideas to life and resolving complex design challenges.
Three talks are proposed in 2015; whilst the topics are yet to be finalised, possible topics include:
‘Macquarie Park – a place undergoing change’
‘Interface – development between high and low density development’
‘Putney Hill – a case study of medium density housing’
The talks will typically be delivered in Ryde Library; though the first talk proposed could be onsite at the Grounds Keeper Cafe in Ryde Park; with architect Matt Day discussing his design.
Council will assist where possible the delivery of the talks; however, the overall management of the event, including the booking process, will be managed by the Institute.
