It’s hard to believe we are in November with Thanksgiving just 2 weeks away! I would like to thank everyone for their continued support and look forward to everyone having a happy holiday season! This year brought us many changes and challenges . . . some good, others not so much…but nonetheless, eventful. I am excited about the upcoming new positive energy on the board as our elections are close at hand and look forward to continuing our mission as we share ideas and work on ‘growing’ our organizations and helping each other in the coming year. COSA is like a family, growing bigger and stronger day by day. In this coming year, COSA’s board will continue to open its arms to welcome new members to join the family and nurture long time members along the way. I encourage everyone to take an active role in the coming year, with cutbacks in many organizations the continued support we offer each other in priceless. Agency Announcements: Event Highlight: Breast Cancer Walk, Heathcote Decorating

Share the holiday spirit with the Be a Santa to a Senior® service program! It’s a way to brighten the lives of lonely or isolated seniors in our community. This program has touched so many lives . . . in the last five years, 60,000 volunteers delivered more than one million gifts to over 660,000 seniors.

How your organization can help:

• Donate small items/marketing giveaways which will be use a gift bag stuffers.

• Sponsor a senior - Choose a tree tag ornament from the Christmas tree located at all three Butterfield Pharmacy & Medical Supplies locations in St. Lucie County after Tuesday, November 15th, 10:00 am and return it with the gift(s) by Saturday, December 10th.

• Volunteer to sponsor one or more seniors whose tree tag ornament is not selected by December 10th, to help ensure that every senior participating in the program will receive a special gift.

• Give a cash donation. Your donation would help cover expenses and gifts to seniors and would be greatly appreciated.

How the program works:

1. Each tree tag ornament will have the first name of a participating senior and their gift preferences.

2. Sponsors will pull a tree tag ornament from the tree and purchase gift(s) for the senior from the gift ideas listed on the tag. The gifts and corresponding tags will be grouped together and placed under the Christmas tree or at another location within the Butterfield Pharmacy & Medical Supplies store.

3. Home Instead Senior Care volunteers will regularly collect gifts, refresh tree tag ornaments as needed, and wrap the gifts. St. Lucie County Meals-on-Wheels volunteers will deliver them to each participating senior.
