Corund• Corund (Hungarian: Korond, Hungarian

pronunciation: [’korond] ) is a commune in Harghita County, Romania. It lies in the Székely Land, an ethno-cultural region in eastern Transylvania, in the "Salt Region" (Ţinutul Sării or Sóvidék). Corund is famous for its pottery and ceramics.

• It is one of the biggest settlements of Harghita county, famous for its handycraft and potterymaking.

• Included settlements are: Valea lui Pavel, Fantana Brailor and Atia. It is situated in the heart of Saltland 18 km from Sovata, 27 km from Odorheiu Secuiesc and 86 km from Miercurea Ciuc , the county centre. The number of its inhabitants is 6525. The first written reference of the locality originates from 1332.

• The tranzit-and rural tourism defines the village's life. The shops along the Main road make the tourists stop.

• Because the land of the village is not favorable for agriculture the handicraft, the trade and the hospitality give the people living here a living.

Our school• Corund, near Sovata in Mures county, is the most

considerable school centre of the Saltland. He insures elemental, grammar school, training college and high-school education. At this school year it has 999 students, taught by 73 teachers.

• Our institution celebrated the 310th annyversary of its existence in 2006.

• Vocational training: Our graduates are tourism and food industry specialists.

• There is an opportunity on these specialisations onto the acquisition of the high school graduation.

• Adult training: Our institution deals with adult training for more than three years. Graduates may obtain Ministry and EU aproved certificates on trader,, guesthouse leader, computer handler, carpenter, mason, cook specialisations.

Our conditions• The School of Corund ensures the training of students

in comfortable rooms with central heating.• Our school regularly, in order to create the material

basis and well –trained human resource of school involves in national, foreign and EU projects.

• We succesfully took part in projects of Apáczai Foundation,Ministry of Education of Hungary , EU PHARE, projects for Rural schools, the LEONARDO Mobility program, Comenius, Grundtvig etc.

• We had the chance to provide a three week’s practical training in Portugal for our students

• We have finished a new school building, in which nine classrooms and three labs, physics, chemistry and biology, will be located..
