fun!

Trash Free Tuesday
Corrimal East will be con nuing with Trash Free
Tuesday this year. Every Tuesday we encourage
parents and caregivers to pack all food in
reusable containers with no packaging. Research
shows that nutri ous foods aid brain
development, concentra on and supports
healthy immune systems. Trash Free Tuesday will
also reduce the amount of waste from our school
going to landfill.
Special Religious Educa on Special Religious Educa on (SRC) will begin at our school on Thursday Week 4 (20/2/20)(for those who
a end SRE).
As per NSWDoE procedures, students will stay in their SRE group or non‐SRE from your selec on last year. If
you would like your child to a end SRE (if they were in non‐scripture in 2019), please contact the office in
wri ng for this request. At CEPS, we have Catholic, Protestant (Church of England, Uni ng, Presbyterian,
Bap st etc) and Orthodox as op ons for SRE.
Updates To Our A endance Policy
Our school has updated our a endance procedures and it is now inline with changes made to the
Department of Educa on’s Policies and procedures.
If your child is away from school you MUST call the school to let them know why they are away. If they are
absent from school and there hasn’t been a call made by the parent/carer then the classroom teacher or
office will contact you either on that same day or the following day to ask why your child is away. As soon
as your child returns back to school they MUST bring an absent note with them and hand it into your
child’s class slot in the foyer.
ALL students need to be accounted for each and every day. This is why it is extremely important that
the school is no fied on the day your child is absent from school.
If you have any ques ons, please speak with your child’s class teacher or our friendly office staff.
Entry & Exit from CEPS
Parents are reminded that the small pedestrian gates located on Duff Parade and Pioneer Road are the
only entry and exit points from our school. No one should be using the carpark entry gates nor the bo om
driveway gates. We wish to ensure the safety of our en re school community. Please help us by
adhering to these regula ons.
The Pioneer Rd gate is locked each day by 9:30am. During the day, the Duff Pde gate is the only entry
point. In the a ernoons, the duty teacher will walk all students using Pioneer Rd to the gate and ensure
they safely cross the road. If a child’s pick‐up is running late, a phone call to the office is essen al.
Students are to wait for their pick‐up on the admin veranda with a staff member. We wish to ensure the
safety and welfare of every child at our school!
*DONATIONS OF HAND SANITISER *
The children are being encouraged to wash their hands throughout the day, including before ea ng mes.
We have soap and water facili es both in the classrooms and bathrooms. However we would like to give
the students another op on to use and believe having hand sani ser in the classrooms will allow the
students to quickly clean their hands when needed. All dona ons of hand sani ser can go directly to your
child’s classroom.

Posi ve Behaviour for Learning
Your son or daughter may have come home and talked about changes in our school reward system. At the
end of 2019 we received feedback from parents, staff and the students about how we could further improve
our Posi ve Behaviour for Learning (PBL) structures. Over the next few pages, we have included snippets of
our revised NSWDoE Student Welfare Policy Implementa on for your reference.
If you have any ques ons about our Welfare policy, please contact your child's class teacher , any of the
Assistant Principals or myself.
All staff will frequently give Eas es both in the classroom and playground. These will be given as stamps on their individual stamp charts or a physical Eas e. Once a child fills his/her Eas e Chart, he/she will receive an Eas e Award.
The stamp charts will be placed in a box within the classroom. Teachers will record the a ainment of awards
on their ‘Go for Gold Chart’. Class Eas e boxes will be taken to each assembly by classes and placed into the
whole school Eas e Box. When full there will be a whole school reward. Bronze, silver and gold cer ficates
will be presented to students during the whole school assembly.
Changes that have been made to our PBL reward structure

Student Banking
CEPS par cipates in the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program. The School Banking program provides

At CEPS our school banking day is Tuesday. Students place their bank book in the Student banking slot, the office
processes the deposits, and the bank books are returned to the students for the following week.
