Correction Technique How did the performance improve? In ‘Arabian Nights’, I was not committing to the character enough, and was too ‘small’ for the Disney theme of the song. I used the ‘Magic If’ to think about how I would carry myself and react to other people around me. In addition, my research into costuming helped me visualise my character. My Character became much clearer for the audience and my acting style fit much better with the style of the song. I was stood with my feet too wide apart and one foot turned out slightly. I had to go back to the mirror in the studio to self assess and find my parallel. Once I could see where it was and feel the difference, I practiced away from the mirrors and had a friend peer assess me to check that it was correct. Creates a slicker, more professional look and ensures I don’t stand out during ensemble numbers. I was too relaxed during “Electricity” to convey the emotion and intensity of the number. I applied emotional memory to my passion as a Musical Theatre student. I channelled this passion into my acting performance in order to appear more focused and emotive. Allows the audience to connect to my character more because they can see the struggle and the passion I have for performing. By connecting with the lyrics, I convey the message of the song better and give an overall more believable performance. I was under confident with my harmony line in “You’ll be in My Heart” which led to me not projecting enough and not fully committing. I used repetition to make sure I was fully confident with my harmony and the lyrics. I combined this with using elements of the Estill singing technique to help me project on the higher notes. The harmony line could be heard more clearly, and my acting improved greatly because I was not worrying about what I should be singing and could focus on my performance as a whole.
