Heimtextil, the world’s largest upholstery fabrics trade show,

TOSO sponsors and participates in various product exhibitions to bring the latest

TOSO products and the newest overseas products and styles to our customers.

At these exhibitions, customers can see and touch curtain tracks, accessories, and

other products drawing on cutting-edge designs and functions to produce refined room

interiors. In Japan, we sponsor Window Fashion Fair events throughout the country.

TOSO products actively incorporate environmentally friendly raw materials. TOSO’s curtain tracks, blinds, and other window components

made from wooden materials are composed of planned plantation, laminated wood, and other natural resources selected for use to

eliminate waste. The metal curtain track coatings contain an olefin-based resin that generates no harmful chlorine gas or dioxins even

when incinerated* at the end of product life. TOSO’s window screens conform to the standard promoted by the Ministry of the

Environment under the Green Purchasing Law (for products composed of at least 10% recycled PET fibers.)

Event Eco-friendly Materials

TOSO became Japan’s first manufacturer in the curtain tracks industry to

acquire the ISO 14001* certification, the international standard for environmental

management systems, in 2002. We understand, of course, that environmental

activities are performed for the environment, not to obtain the certification. Our

Tsukuba Plant has achieved a recycling rate of 99% or more for waste materials.

Our manufacturing departments are working with all of the other departments in

our company to protect the environment. We are determined to pass on the baton

in the world’s multigenerational quest to keep Earth beautiful in the future.

ISO 14001 Certification in Environmental Management

The carbon footprint is a quantification of the amount of CO2 emitted during all stages of a

product life cycle, from the procurement of raw materials to production, distribution, use,

disposal, and recycling. By visualizing CO2 emissions we can grasp the processes that

generate the most CO2 and work towards efficient reduction. Consumers rely on the carbon

footprint for guidance when selecting products with low environmental impact. TOSO also has

certified the system of outside suppliers for parts and obtained a “system certification” that

allows the CO2 emissions calculated by outside suppliers to be displayed as needed.

If the carbon footprint of an item can be calculated under this system, the item can be certified

in-house. TOSO will be gradually expanding the products targeted for carbon footprint certification

and reducing environmental burdens by promoting the spread of the system.

TOSO puts out publications on not only window treatments but also the

relationship of interior environments to daily life. Over the last 50 years,

our publications have covered trends in interior design and decorating,

shown photographic images of completed decoration work, explained

terminology, and offered a broad range of other information for everyone

from industry professionals to consumers.

Publishing

“with Curtains” seminars sponsored by TOSO are a valuable information channel

for customers. Each seminar is led by an industry expert, and is open to

participation by people working in interior design and decorating. At a typical

“with Curtains” seminar, participants might hear a product developer from a

major Japanese curtain manufacture talk about factors behind the development

of a new product and about the product’s differentiating features. “with Curtains”

seminars aim to contribute to the advancement of the entire industry by

disseminating information on the relationship of interior environments to daily life.

JAPANTEX 2018At R+T 2015, held in Germany, TOSO products were available for visitors to handle and manipulate, and were widely praised by people working in interior design and decorating but also in a wide array of areas related to construction materials, as well.

Forest depletion caused by excessive logging has become a serious problem in Indonesia, resulting in a lack of safe water, poor crop yields due to degraded soil, and frequent floods and landslides. As a prominent member of Indonesia’s business community, our company group has been planting trees to regenerate the forests. TOSO has been planting trees in cooperation with the Mount Walat Institute of Forestry at Bogor Agricultural University since 2009.

Tree-planting activities in the Republic of IndonesiaJAPANTEX is the largest trade show for interior design and decorating, and home textiles, in Japan. TOSO participates in JAPANTEX every year and has gained attention from overseas participants and visitors, as well as from domestic quarters, for the quality of our presentation and products.
