Advertisers

Dues are based on all domestic advertising expenditures for the past year.

Media

Dues are based on all domestic gross revenues received from the placement of advertising for the past year.

Advertising Agencies & Services

Dues are based on total domestic gross billings for the past year.

Using these guidelines and the dues schedule on the previous page, the following is an example for determining dues.

EXAMPLE: Advertising Agency

Your agency’s gross billings are $600 million, placing your company in dues category 9, with base dues of $28,675 and incremental dues of $125 per $10 million.

To determine your incremental dues, first subtract the minimum billings from your agency’s billings in your dues category (e.g., $600,000,000 – $500,000,000 = $100,000,000).

Then figure the per $10 million amount of $100 million, which is 10. Multiply 10 by $125 to get the total incremental amount—$1,250. Finally, add the minimum base dues to the total incremental amount: $28,675 + $1,250 = $29,925.

9 $600 million $28,675 + $125 x 10 =$1,250 $29,925

1. Dues for one year should accompany this application for AAF corporate membership. However, dues for the balance of a calendar year can be prorated to accompany the application.

2. The AAF Board of Directors approves all applications for corporate membership according to AAF’s operating bylaws.

3. Annual dues for each member company are payable in advance of January 1 each year. For a member entering its second year of membership, not already on a calendar year schedule, the balance of that calendar year’s dues are payable at that time as well, or no later than the anniversary of application.

4. Dues payments are held in the strictest confidence.

5. Dues payments are not deductible as a charitable contribution but may be deductible as a business expense. However, in fiscal year 2010 AAF estimated that 10.65% of the dues payment is not deductible as a business expense because of lobbying activities on behalf of members.
