New Feature: Webinars

Free, short, informational webinars created just for you! The first webinar in ourseries (Orientation and General Info) will be available soon. Watch for the new UserTools tab in the middle of the BCD home page to access the webinars. This firstvideo is a great resource for new BCD users to get familiar with the basic features ofthe site AND also helpful for existing BCD subscribers as a refresher (you may learnsomething new too)!

Additional webinars will be added throughout the year with “how to” details forvarious features. Check the News and Announcements on the BCD home pageregularly to find out when new webinars are posted.

All PRINT options are NOT the Same!

Using the PRINT option from your browser menu will NOT produce the sameresults as using the Print link on the BCD profiles! The Print option within the BCDapplication is formatted to include all the information you need and excludesbuttons/menus on the screen that are not part of the profile.

If you print from the browser (File Menu), that format will be lost and the extrascreen menus may add unnecessary pages to the profile. Even in the thumbnailsamples below, you can see how the same profile page looks different from thebrowser’s File Print option (on the left) versus the print feature that’s built into ourwebsite. In addition, IE8 and 9 users will be logged out of BCD when printing fromthe browser and you may have difficulty logging back in. Other browsers maydisplay an error message.

News You May Have Missed

The following information was in the News and Announcements section on the BCDhome page over the last few months. In case you missed them:

• The American Board of Surgery (ABS) issued certificates to diplomates whopassed the first exam in Complex General Surgical Oncology. You will find thenew subspecialty listed in the Sub Certification drop down menu on theAdvanced Search page of BCD.

• The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) provided several updatesthat are now displayed on BCD.

In early 2015 ABIM initiated a grace period for diplomates thatcompleted their Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirements, butdid not yet pass the MOC exam. Those records have been updatedand you can find more information about the grace period profiles insection 13.7 of the BCD FAQs.The board updated records with certificates that previously displayedan expiration date of 12/31/2014.ABIM provided new MOC records and updates on records with a 4/1Reverification date.
