CONWAY COUGARS 4100 Lake Margaret Drive, Orlando, FL 32812 September 2017
Welcome to a New School Year Conway Families!
Dear Families,
Thank you so much for an amazing first few weeks of school. Our students
are refreshed and ready for the new school year with so many smiling faces.
Thank you for coming out to Meet-the-Teacher as well. Conway Elementary
Faculty & Staff met so many wonderful families.
Please stay connected with your child's teacher by checking the planner
daily. Make sure all transportation changes are in writing. Absent notes
should be sent in as well when your child returns to school from being out
sick.
In place of an annual theme for the 2017-2018 school-year we would like to
challenge everyone in our school community to adopt a “Yes I Can” atti-
tude. Often times a positive attitude toward a challenging situation is all
that is needed to surpass a barrier. We are committed to ensuring your
child is successful this year and every year at Conway Elementary School!

Parent Resources for the Florida Standards
As you are all aware, our Florida Standards require more rigorous testing requirements.
The OCPS Parent Home Page now includes direct links to practice tests and parent
guides that can help par-ents better understand these standards. If you visit
www.ocps.net, select the parent tab and then click on “Grade Level and Instructional Re-
sources for Parents,” you can access videos that highlight five tips for helping your child
with the concepts being taught in Math and Language Arts for each quarter. The direct
site is: https://www.ocps.net/Parents/Pages/default.aspx
The Billion Mile Club
We as a school are promoting more happy, healthy and active kids. The Billion Mile Race is a program sponsored by New Balance and incorporating 100 mile club that the goal is for every school that regis-tered for the program will run/walk a Billion Miles by the end of the year as a nation. The Conway goal is to run/walk 100,000 miles as a school so we can add to that Billion Miles Nation goal. The kids are
doing a awesome job and accepted the challenge of running/walking 100,000 miles by the end of the year. Right now Conway is #13 in the Nation from 8,738 schools, #1 in the district from 13 schools and
#4 in the state of FL from 488 schools. so our kids are awesome.
