Project Title Explore the appearance of the media format of the character bible through the use of an alternative history project.

Section 1: Rationale (approx.150 words)

The interest of my project is two sections, my interest in the legend of king Arthur, the Golden age of piracy and the differences between the two eras. The second is the manipulation of the King Arthur legend to the age of piracy.I will do this using multiple representations of the character bible, then have a group of peers help decide what sections of each of the character bibles are good and what is not, I will then use this input to create a final character bible page taking all of the feedback in to account.My extended project was inspired by King Arthur. How the story of king Arthur has been represented in the past and how the legend could be adapted for another time period.My project is important as it allows me to display the skills I have gathered in world building as well as skills that are relevant to the creation of a games world and the design of the world.

idea, this means I will try to have multiple versions of my project so that I can show the experimentation that I have done. The main influences behind this project are the Legend of king Arthur and the multiple representations that exist and creators like Ken Levine and Masahiro Sakurai and how they have constructed their games worlds.I will research both the legend of king Arthur and the era in which it was based as well as the society at the time, I will also do the same for the golden age of piracy so that I can better adapt the legend into that era. I will also look in to the different representations of these two subjects as to better understand how they have been interpreted by different people.At this point in time I am unsure of my target audience though I have a feeling that I will end up targeting the people who are fans or show interest in the Golden age of piracy and the legend of king Arthur. My role in the project will be as the game architect, the person who comes up with and writes down and further develops the original ideas.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 150 words)

I will reflect on my work by asking for the opinions of other people of my age group as well as people of an older and younger age group as to their opinions on which of the representations of the information is better for each group as well as what they like and dislike about each of the representations. I will then use this feedback to create another final version of the character bible using their feedback. I will then also present this version to the same group of people and ask for their opinion on the new one.I will judge the final character bible by the reactions and opinions of my peers and whether the new version that was created based on all of their views on the original representations is any better or if they have a larger preference to one of the original representations then the newer one.

CHAPTER 1

Introduction

This project portfolio is about my year two, UAL Extended Diploma creative media Games development extended project. My project is the designing of a games character bible, containing most of the information that will be relevant for the games creation, it is also about seeing how the appearance of the character bible can affect the opinion of the person looking at the information. To do this I will create multiple visual different versions of a page within the character bible and then ask a group of people for their opinions on the multiple versions. I will then use the feedback from this to create a final version containing all of the information.

The Background of my Project This section of my project portfolio I will be going over my inspirations as well as the reasons for why I have chosen the project that I have chosen. This will include going over my likes and what I have learnt over the past two years as well as how it has affected me and my choices for this project. This section also goes over my journey over these two years, which has focused on allowing me to decide what job role within the industry I want and the skills that I will need for that role.

Who am I? In this section of my project portfolio I will be going over my likes and hobbies and how they have affected me as a person as well as how they have affected my choice of project.

The majority of my likes revolve around fiction or non-realistic things this is because I find reality and the world around me boring and uneventful. I enjoy history, mainly the tragic parts due to how exciting the events are presented.In the end I know next to nothing about history, this is not due to me not researching any history but more to do with the pure amount of history that there actually is. I also know very little about myths and legends as there are thousands of them throughout written history and among all of the civilizations that have existence.Overall I found this task fairly exciting due to it basically being us talking about what I enjoy as well as what I know about my likes.

What did I learn on my course? Over the course of the past two years I have taken part and completed many tasks and while not all of them were relevant to my extended project some of the tasks helped greatly when I was deciding what I should do for my extended project. In the end creating the timeline was interesting as it allowed me to see how far I have come since the beginning of the course as well as how the course has affected my choices and interests since the start of the course.

What is my project about?My project is about seeing how the appearance of the character bible can affect how the person views the information as well as whether it is a good or bad way of representing the information. I will also ask for the opinions of a group of people to see what they think is a good way of representing the information as well as what parts of the practice character bibles are good and more eye-catching in their opinions. I will be putting information for a game concept based around placing and converting the Arthurian Legend in to the golden age of piracy. My role within this project is that of a games architect/designer the person who designs and creates a document to help other people understand the idea behind the game as well as how they can put the game together. The idea of my project is to create a character bible for an alternate history version of the Arthurian legend, in which I am converting the legend so that it is set in the 16th century during the golden age of piracy, this is interesting due to a previous task where I was asked to create an environment for an alternate version of the world in which Napoleon had located the tesseract.

Why my project is important? My extended project is important as it will allow me to display the varying number of skills I have gathered in the field of world building as well as skills that are relevant to the creation

of a games world, design, characters and the story. It also allows me to demonstrate my thorough thinking when developing my ideas by demonstrating all of the information I have gathered as research for the topic. My extended project is even more important as it will allow me to see how the visual appearance of a character bible will allow it stand out to a group of people and will allow me to use their feedback to further develop the character bible in a way that will better help visually represent the information within the character bible.The theme of my idea is that of an alternate history version of the Arthurian legend based within the 16th century, in which is considered the starting era for the golden age of piracy. The reason why I chose to create a character bible in this situation is due to my aspiration to become a games architect/designer where I could create my own game ideas. The reason I chose to create an alternate history of the Arthurian legend is due to my interest in mythology and the fact that the Arthurian legend is perhaps the most famous legend and as a result has many different representations for me to draw information or views of the legend.

Northumbria(N/A, 2015)MonarchyDuring the 5th Century (Arthurian Legend)At the time the Roman Empire had just left Britain and at that point we did not have monarch. The first recorded monarch that Britain had was Egbert the Saxon king.(Johnson, 2013) Due to the original legend originating from Wales in the process of defending against the invading Saxons it is also important to look in to any royalty that Wales may have had. The first recorded king for Wales is in the 9th century king known as Rhodri the Great (844 – 878).(Johnson, 2013)Wessex’s first monarch was Cirdic (520 – 540).(Johnson, 2013) Mercia’s first monarch was during the span of 515 – 535 and was known as Icel/Icil.(Johnson, 2013)The legend of King Arthur was based from the late 5th century to the early 6th century so the fact that Icil and Cirdic ruled in the early 6th century means that they can be referenced or mentioned within the legend.During the 16th Century (Golden Age of Piracy)The monarchy of the 16th century is a lot simpler to look in to as we have access to more intact records of the time. The major issue is the setting of where I want to set my game. Though even this is a small issue due to the prominence of the British Empire and their control over the ocean. Due to King Arthur being the ages between 15 and 25 due to the short time frame in which he is known as a Prince, which means he pulled the sword from the anvil/stone before he was 18 which means he would be known as a King. Factoring this in the monarchy of the game would include the late rulings of the Tudor’s going through the Stuarts, Commonwealth and Stuarts (restored) before ending in the early reign of the House of Hanover ruling family’s (1558 – 1760).(Ross, 2014)

TechnologyDuring the 5th Century (Arthurian Legend)The technology during the 5th century was very limited as in the legend they only ever mention swords, spears, shields and other basic weaponry as well as horse reins. They do make a brief reference to a ship though there is not a thorough description of the ship so it is difficult to disclose what type of ship it is.During the 16th Century (Golden Age of Piracy)The 16th century in comparison is a lot more technology advanced then the 6th, it has been known for the golden age of piracy as well as multiple types of ship and its guns and cannons. Most of the ships during this era were reliant on the wind to move across the ocean while the remaining ships used man power to row the boats. While reading through the history of King Arthur I found out that unlike what has been brought out in the common ideas of the legend that Arthur did not wear the classical knight armour and in fact wore a golden helmet (Goswhit), a leather jerkin (top) and a cloak. The other knights seem to have worn something similar to Arthur and each seem to have never worn any of the classical armour types.(History of Humanity, N/A)

Over the course of the research in to the technological and social differences between the eras that I decided to look in to for my extended project I discovered many interesting facts and pieces of information that was relevant for my project. The most interesting section that I looked in to is the differences in the monarchy between the eras.

Practitioners Report In order to further my understanding of my specialist discipline I decided to research two people from my chosen specialist subject and analyse their lives, biographies and their work. He was born August 3rd 1970 in Tokyo Japan. His earliest experience within the gaming industry was when he worked for HAL Laboratory where he created Kirby at only 19 years old though Kirby was not used in a game until he was 21. Before this feat not much is known about his childhood or jobs before his at HAL Laboratory but due to his interest in the gaming industry we can guess that he played games during his childhood, due to the time frame we can assume he played a lot of the earlier games as well as arcade games. Some games he may have played include, Space Invaders (1978, Arcade), Speed Racers (1974, Arcade), Gun Fight (1975, Arcade) and Home Pong (1975, Home console (Magnavox Odyssey)). Due to him creating Kirby in 1989 while he was a part of HAL Laboratory this suggests that he was relatively high up within the company. In Japan, compulsory education starts at 6 years old and stops at around 15 years old. Taking in to account a minimum of a year at working at the company before they would consider his ideas Masahiro probably worked at HAL Laboratory's for a maximum of 4 years before the creation of Kirby. On August 5th 2003 Masahiro Sakurai resigned from HAL Laboratory, he later stated that this was because of the continuing sequelizing of the Kirby games.The first game Masahiro Sakurai was involved in the creation in was Kirby's Dream Land (1992) in this game he acted as the director and designer for the game. Masahiro Sakurai's next game was Kirby's Adventure (1993) in this game he had the same jobs as he had in his first game. The next two games that Masahiro Sakurai took part in creating he was only the director and this would continue for some other of his games these being, Kirby Super Star (1996), Super Smash Bros. (1999), Super Smash Bros. Melee (2001), Kirby: nightmare in dreamland (2002) and Kirby Air Ride (2003). While Masahiro Sakurai did take part in other projects after this he usually also took place under another job role as well. He, as a character, was created in 1989 but was not given an actual game until 1992 and even then he nearly wasn't as he originally was a

place holder character but the game developers grew attached to the character and kept him instead.The goal in each of the Kirby games is different though they all share some similarities in their basis, this it that it is the job of Kirby (player) to save the land that the character resides in from some form of threat. This threat seems to change from game to game though there are some reappearing foes such as King Dedede, the Dark Matter army and Zero/zero squared.

Masahiro Sakurai's other most recognized game franchise is the Super Smash Bros. series. This game series is Nintendo's beat em up, battle royal in which several characters belonging to Nintendo are put together to battle each other. Ken LevineHe was born September 1st 1966 in New Jersey, New York, Ken Levine describes how he spent his child hood as a recluse as well as not being popular in school apparently this lead to him becoming a fan of Dungeons and Dragons and due to him not having many friends he learnt how to play the game by himself, after an uncertain amount of time he apparently found a group of friends that shared a similar taste in likes.. His earliest experience within the gaming industry was in 1995 (29) when he was hired as a games designer at Looking Glass Studios where he worked on Thief: The Dark Project along with designer Doug Church during his time at Looking Glass Studios Ken Levine also worked on several other games . Out of the games and series that Ken Levine has worked on Bioshock is probably the most recognized among the gaming community, the game is known for its interesting story as well as the philosophy within the game play. The goal of the game is a bit vague at the beginning of the game as it seems to drop you almost immediately in to the action with no other reason to fight other than survive, in the end the goal could be considered to be to escape the city of Rapture that the game take place in fighting and killing anyone/anything that gets in your way. The game-play of the Bioshock games is that of a slandered first person shooter with the unique twist that the user also possesses supernatural abilities granted to them by the science within the games city of rapture which is usable alongside the player’s weapons to allow for a more varied game-play style. The story of the first Bioshock game follows the character of Jack (player) in 1960, as his plane crash lands in the middle of the ocean with him being the only survivor and the only landmark visible is a lighthouse which leads to the underwater city of Rapture created by Andrew Ryan. The player is quickly called by a man called Atlas who decides to help the player survive in the city while also asking them to help him save/find his family, the game continues through the city until the player confronts the founder of Rapture. Following the first games success the company decided that the game required a sequel that they decided to call Bioshock 2. Despite this the original team decided not to work on the second game Ken Levine was quoted as saying the following."The reason we didn't do Bioshock 2 is because... The time frame that game had, and the company understandably wanted another game in Rapture... But we felt we had said what we wanted to say about Rapture, about those kind of environments and that kind of feel."Despite not working on the sequel to his game Ken Levine did stat the following after the games release and it shows that despite not working on the game himself he was proud of how the team dis with the sequel."I think it's a very talented team," he said, "and I think it fulfilled the mission of completing the story of Rapture."Bioshock 2 is set eight years after the first game and follows a different set of characters then the first game with only one making a reappearance from the first game. In this game the player takes the role of Delta a prototype big daddy (an enemy from the first game) and the general goal of the game is for you to reunite with your little sister (creatures mutated from little girls and mentally bounded to the big daddies) after she is stolen from the player in the opening of the game. So far Bioshock 2 is the only Bioshock game in which Ken Levine was not a part of the creative team behind the game. Unlike the first game Bioshock 2 did not get given as many awards only managing to get one in 2011 as the best use of licensed music.

The third Bioshock game was Bioshock Infinite and unlike Bioshock 2 Ken Levine did work on the team producing the game. This game is slightly different from the first two games in the series as it takes place in 1912 and in an alternate dimension to Bioshock and Bioshock 2 and instead of being set in the underwater city of Rapture is instead based on the floating city of Columbia. In the game the player will take command over yet another character called Booker DeWitt a disgraced detective. The goal of Bioshock Infinite is very clear at the beginning of the game as the player is told at the start:"Bring us the girl, and wipe away the debt"This alludes to the end goal of the game and over the course of the game your goal changes from this to killing Zachary Comstock the leader of the floating city as well as the ‘father' of the girl the player is sent to retrieve. CONCLUSION - Who/what was my inspiration? /Contextualisation of my study Similar media products to my work could contain many different media products, this is because the focus of my project is the creation of the games concept and as a result I could look at any media product due to them all having a point in their development where they had their concept developed. Two games that have greatly influenced my project are both the Bioshock and Portal franchises; this is because of their plots as well as how they have developed their worlds in particular. Bioshock, with its interesting view and the way that the story had developed over the course of it being played and how the player sees this develop. Portal with its unique use of its world and story with each other to create the feeling and understanding of the world.

Introduction

Research QuestionsThe main aim of my extended project is about finding out if how the information within a character bible is physically represented can affect the views of the person reading it. This basically means does how the information is shown effect the view of the person going through it, and if it does what about the different representations is effecting the view positively and what is effecting it negatively.

Over the course of the research step of my project Iwill use various ways of looking at certain parts of the research and infromation.The tasks that I have come up with as primary research include:

Looking at some of the modern intepretations of the Arthurian legend.Looking at the original texts of the Arthurian legend.Looking at buildings and environmental groups that may assist in the project.Looking at an already completed games artbook to see how they have represented the layout and informations.Creating the first set of character bible layouts to get feedback on.

Looking at environmental data that may help in the project.In this task I plan to look at the buildings and environment within Canterbury and to use the information that we find to further help our research for our FMP. For this research task I decided to look at the architecture as well as the guided boat tours that happen on the river that flows through the town.

The picture above is of a window of the Beaney House, a museum/free library that focuses on looking at art, books, heritage and information. I took a picture of this window due to the resemblance it had to old ships back windows (usually held the captain’s quarters) an example can be seen below.

As can be seen the window does not look exactly like the old ships ones but it look remarkably like one. The Beaney House was named after Dr James George Beaney a man who was born in Canterbury and studied medicine before moving to Australia to become successful. When he died in 1891 he left a large sum of money in his will to the city of Canterbury to build an institute for working men aimed towards people who were from a poor background like he himself was. The building was complete on September 11th 1899 and was built by the architect in the design called Tudor Revival (mock Tudor) style by A.H. Cambell.The next image I took was of a window from the clock tower at the top of the high street. I took this photo due to the similar appearance the window has to the type used on the windows on the back of the ship as above. So combined together these windows plus the shape of the window on the Beaney House.

The clock tower also known as St George's tower and is the only remaining structure that represents the church of St George the Martyr a church that, from all current evidence, was constructed during the eleventh century. The tower itself was added to the church either in the late fourteenth century or the early fifteenth century. The church went under an expansion sometime in the late 1870's due to another local church being damaged; St George's church was later badly damaged in the German bombings on the first of June 1942. The remains of the church were demolished while the tower was left as a landmark in 1955.The last few of the images that I took were images of the river in the town. The smaller of the two images of a section further down the high street on a section that is too small for boats while the other image is of the section that currently hosts boat tours on the river. I did this so that I could gain a better understanding on how boats move and affect the water that they are on as well as how the boat is affected by the increased weight of a person on it.

In the images above what I really like is the affect that the smaller images show, in the fact that the reeds and grass on the rivers bed flows with the flow of the river and as a result it is made obvious just by a still image which way the river is flowing. The river in the image is the Great Stour, though the two different images are of two different paths that the river had taken after being split.

Analysing at modern intepretations of the Arthurian legend + Looking at the original texts of the Arthurian LegendFor this task I decided to look at the 2008 BBC TV series Merlin in this section of my research I decided to focus on the relationship between Merlin and Arthur so that I could compare it to the original texts.

The TV show had 5 seasons in total and went from the meeting of Merlin and Arthur in season one, to the Death of King Arthur in season five. The story itself is different from most interpretations as it places Merlin in the place of Arthur’s manservant instead of his friend like in the original texts though in the show a friendship does develop.

Looking at a already completed games art book for layout insperationFor this task I looked at a digital version of the concept art book for the game Bioshock to help me to come up with an idea about how I could represent the information for my character bible.

The image above is the first three padges of the artbook. The padges under the cover are all desighned to fit the look of the era and style of the games world in it’s final version.

This task was aimed around creating the layouts that I will use to get feedback based on their appearance; I will then use this feedback to create a hopefully better laid out character bible page. Below are some reference images I used to inspire the layout of the character bible layouts.

I used the above character biography’s to create the basic ideas for what layout that I wanted for my own character biography’s, these basic layouts are shown below. The reason I chose the above images as a reference is due to their source, the second one (right) is from a game and focuses on that characters past, personality and basic information. The one on the left is from the hunger games movie; I chose it due to the situation in which the character is within the film, in a survival game.

Merlin Task – Analysing the Modern Interpretations

SEASON 1: in season one the relation between Merlin and Arthur is that of a Prince/Knight and a servant, Arthur often makes fun of or downplays Merlin’s importance. Though he is treated this way Merlin still helps Arthur in any way he is able, there are also several situations throughout the season that Merlin and Arthur act like friends instead of the classic servant/Prince relationship.SEASON 2: In season two the relationship between Arthur and Merlin has developed further to the point that it reminds me of two brothers poking fun at each other while still being on friendly terms.SEASON 5: The relationship between Arthur and Merlin has developed by quite a large amount since the first season as is shown in this final season, this is proven by how Arthur now seems to value Merlin’s input and advice as more than just that of a servant, he also seems to care for what happens to Merlin as can be seen in several episodes where Merlin

is separated or harmed while near Arthur and how Arthur seems in his own way to worry about Merlin’s fate.

Overall when comparing the 2008 BBC TV series Merlin does a good job of representing the relationship between Arthur and Merlin, they manage to do this despite the changes they had made to the legend. These changes include Arthur’s father, Uther, being alive and having raised his son unlike in the legend where he died and Arthur was raised by an old friend of Uther’s. Another change is that of Merlin’s relationship with Uther, this is because in the legend Merlin is an adviser to Uther before Arthur’s birth and in the show Merlin does not have this position though this role may have been filled out with Merlin’s guardian Gais who is the physician as well as Uther’s old friend and adviser. So when compared to the legend the 2008 BBC TV series Merlin does a good job of representing the friendship between Arthur and Merlin.

What I found out while looking at the art book for Bioshock is that the pages within the book itself have been designed to look that they belong in both the environment and the time period that the game is based.

The page’s use a background paper type that seems to fit the location and time period that the game is set in, in this case the 1960 in a fictional underwater city. The pages seem to have slight water damage.

Also after asking for their opinions on which of the character bibles orientation they felt was better in this situation. Out of the four of them three felt that it looked better in a landscape format and only one of them felt it looked better in a portrait layout.I will use all of this feedback to create a final character bible page that takes all of the feedback I received in to account and hopefully this will create a more appealing character bible.

Data analysis To analyse the data that I received from my research I used two methods, the first was to look at the information I had gathered and use the relevant information to create a PowerPoint containing ideas and other important pieces of information for my games idea. The second was used for the example character bibles, and that was to have a group of my peers to look at them and tell me what they felt about each one. Over the course of my research I have found out many interesting pieces of information as well as some theories about the Arthurian legend. One of the theories that I found was the idea of the relationship between the two swords Excalibur and Caliburn, the theory being that they are actually the same sword. Also I learned while creating my example character bibles was that many people preferred it to be landscape instead of portrait in its orientation.

Conclusion - How did the research help me with my project? In conclusion the research tasks that I decided to do to help develop my project were very helpful and each task was in some way done in a way as to vary the sources of information. The tasks included researching using the internet and various websites to gather information about the subjects that my project focused on. I also looked at one of the original printings of the Arthurian legend and then compared it to a more modern interpretation of the legend. These tasks and the research that I have gained from it has greatly helped in the development of my project, the main way that it has helped is the development of individual characters skills such as Lancelot’s “Acknowledgement seeker” skill which is based on his own actions in the legend where he would hide his identity and compete in a tournament. The tasks in particular that I feel helped my project the most is the task where I was working on the story and basic ideas behind the game.

CHAPTER 5

My Project

Introduction This chapter is about the stages that I took in the creation of my project, this includes the pre-production, production and the post-production. My project was all about seeing if the layout of a character bible can affect how the people viewing it and if there is an overarching trend that can help a character bible apply to anyone.

Pre-Production My project is about producing a page of a character bible that takes in to account the views of a group of people. The specifics of the project are in my project pitch in the link below.

I chose to fill this page with information about a game based around King Arthurs legend and recreating it in to the golden age of piracy because of both my interest in the era as well as my love of legends, the use of the Arthurian legend also would allow me to use the many modern interpretations that have been recreated over the years.

Production The act of creating my project followed a three step plan. First I was to gather information that I could use to fill the example pages, the second step was about creating example pages that I would use to get feedback from a group of my peers so that I could get an idea of what people preferred in an informative document. The third step was all about using the feedback received to create a final idea for the layout as well as notes on what was preferred about it over the example pages created in step two.

Post-production The final step in my project was to have the same group of people who reviewed the example character bible pages to review the final and renewed page. I would then receive feedback on the new page as well as anything that they feel could be further improved upon. In the end my project was all about finding out about what people preferred to see in an informative document as well as if they felt that it was a good way to review the information.

Presentation The reason that I chose to represent my project as an image and a paragraph of text is due to the goal of project, which wasn’t about the amount but the information gained about how people preferred their information to be presented and while I could have shown it in another format such as a video I felt a larger preference and more confident in my ability to represent the information learned in a written format over that of a spoken one.

MY EXTENDED PROJECT – FINAL PRODUCT

As seen above when the final version is compared to the earlier example pages the final version is better in most aspects. This can be further supported by the feedback received where my peers only had a few issues with the final version. These included the point that it seemed that certain areas of the final version of the character bible page are crowded with information. Or how one of my peers felt that the information would have been better represented in a portrait orientation then the landscape orientation, I had used this orientation due to the preference that was shown to it by the majority of my peers.Over the course of the final pages creation I learned several points that were important to the representation of the information. These include the spacing of the information in which there had to be a mixture of plenty of space so that it doesn’t feel too full but it also can’t have too much space or it seems to sparse of information. It also seems that there is a preference to the placement of the related information; this can be shown in the image above in the clear separation between the background information and the actual game information. During the process of getting the feedback I focused mainly on the layout instead of other subjects such as colour, genre and information shown. This is due to my view that I needed to understand how the layout affects the view of the people reading it.In the end all of the little tips and tricks for the layout and placement of the information within a design document will help me largely in the future when I am creating a design document. The difference in opinions from the original three ideas does show how the layout can affect the views of the people looking at the information.

CHAPTER 7

Project Evaluation

In the end my project was all about how the layout and visual appearance of the character bible can affect how people view the information that is shown within it. This project was all about helping me for my future dream job role as a games architect. In the end I feel that my project had several positive points such as its unique premise in learning about how others view it instead of how you yourself view the information, it also allowed me to understand the work and effort that goes into just coming up with the idea of a game. Other positives of my project include how it relied on the opinions of the rough age range of those who are either going to buy the game or that I would be working with. While the above are all positives I do feel that there are several points throughout my project in that I could have improved, these include several points such as how I feel that I could have used a larger group of peers for the feedback that hopefully would have covered a larger variety of people such as ages and gender. Other things I feel could have been improved would be the tasks within my research that I looked at modern interpretations of the Arthurian legend in which I only looked at one of these representations where I could have included more of them.The theme I based my character page design on was that of the classic idea of a pirate map this mainly went in to the background of the page the rest of the layout was inspired by many different character biography’s that I have seen over the years. The main experiment of my project was about the layout itself, this can be seen by how the opinions of the first three example character bible pages differed from the final one despite the fact that they all included the same amount of information as well as the exact same information. This further supported the idea that the way that the information is represented can change the opinions of the people viewing it.

product but a more professional version. Even at first glance there is a clear difference in the quality; this is obvious due to the image as well as the chosen background image. The professional version looks of greater quality in nearly every way. The only way that I feel my own product is better is the amount of information that is conveyed.In the future I feel I could improve the product in multiple ways, the first would be to work longer on the image used in the page as well as a better background page choice. Other than this I feel that I could work on creating more than one page for the character bible so as to better represent the amount that I have learned about how the layout can affect the view of the information in the page. The reason I chose those images as a reference is due to their source, the second one (right) is from a game and focuses on that characters past, personality and basic information. The one on the left is from the hunger games movie; I chose it due to the situation in which the character is within the film, in a survival game.In the end I feel that the end product does fulfil the original goal that I had set myself as it includes the improved page as well as the amount of information that I have learned over the course of this project.In the end I am very proud of my project as well as all of the information and tips that I have learned over the course of the project itself.In conclusion despite my original fear that I would not improve over the course of this project I now feel a lot better and if I was to try to do this project again I would start it with more confidence as well as the knowledge that I have gained over the course of the project. I also feel that this project in particular was a great way to represent and prepare myself for my chosen job role within the industry as a games architect.
