Railteam is a cooperation of Europe's leading high speed train operators.The cooperation consists currently of DB (Germany), SNCF (France), Eurostar(UK, France and Belgium), NS Hispeed (Netherlands), ÖBB (Austria), SBB(Switzerland), and SNCB (Belgium) as well as the subsidiaries Thalys andLyria.

Railteam appears as an independent brand and has its distinct corporate design.All basic corporate design elements of Railteam are presented here in depth andwithin their specific application. Joint communication media of Railteam and theDB Group carry the Railteam logo in accordance with the corporate designguidelines of the DB.

Approval process for special casesThe regulations in these guidelines do not cover all individual applications thatmight occur but they explain the principle. They are examples for futurecommunication needs of the Railteam cooperative. All individual elaboration andadaptation of special cases need to be approved by the CI/CD and CreationDepartment. At a glanceThe design features

Railteam has its own unique corporate design.The following basic corporate design elements build thegraphic style of Railteam:

The Railteam logo (1) is a copyright protected mark and ismainly used in conjunction with the words High SpeedEurope. The logo uses fern blue (2) as its identity colorwhich is supplemented through an extended color palette.The colorful graphic element (3) is composed of stripes andgradients in colors of the extended color palette and is a

symbol standing for motion and speed. The graphic elementcan be a carrier for headlines or keywords in multiplelanguages. In all Railteam communication does the logoappear in conjunction with the partner logo stripe or thehigh speed services stripe (4). The house font Praxis (5) isbeing used throughout all print media. Online applicationsuse Verdana.

Railteam communication published by a rail partner is basedon the corporate design guidelines of the partner company.

Logo

The logo with the stylized map of Europe is a unique and distinct graphicdepiction, which shall not be altered or redrawn. In most cases the logo markappears in conjunction with the text addition ‘High Speed Europe’. The logo isshown in all Railteam communication with the partner logo stripe or the highspeed services stripe.

Standard versionThis is the standard version of the logo.The text addition appears to the rightof the mark. The logo is specified inthis appearance and it is not to bemodeled with alternative fonts,measurements or colors.

Railteam logo in blackIf reproduction does not allow forcolored depiction of the logo (forexample monochrome print) then amonochrome logo version comes toplay printing in 100% black.

Vertical Railteam logoThis version is only to be used ifhorizontal space limitations occur.

Railteam logo without text additionThis logo version with no text additionis only used in exceptional cases forexample when space is limited.

The different versions of theRailteam logoFor different colored backgrounds andto meet different reproductionrequirements several versions of thelogo are being offered.

For the depiction on DB Gray, distalblue or a multicolored background (such as on photos or illustrations)is an outline version of the mark offered. The copy isthen white.

On backgrounds with alternating brightness is theoutlined logo version used as well. On lightbackgrounds is the text positive distalblue and on darkbackgrounds is the text negative white.

On black or dark backgrounds the text addition is whiteas well. The outline is not being used if the contrast ofthe distalblue towards the background is sufficient.

Is a monochrome logo on a dark gray or blackbackground required, then the version with outline andwhite copy is being used.

Architecture and clear space of the Railteam logoThe distance between logo mark and text addition is defined. This valuemultiplied by two is being used to describe the minimum clear space requirement.

Horizontal arrangementThe standard version of the Railteam logo.

Vertical arrangementUsed if space requirements demand it.

Minimum clear space: height and width twice the value x. Minimum clear space: Height and width twice the value x.

Minimal sizeBasis for the minimal size of the logo is the width of the logo mark which is set to20mm. Smaller versions of the logo are not allowed and the Railteam icon has tobe used.

Railteam IconThis icon is a special version of theRailteam logo which is used if theminimum width of 20mm of theRailteam logo can not be maintained(for example for diagrams or trainschedules). The icon has a minimumdepiction width of 10mm.

The Railteam Endorsement Mark has been developed specifically to appearon members’ communication material—advertising piece, brochure,timetables—promoting non Railteam routes, confirming their membership ofthe scheme and providing consumers with an assurance of quality.

The mark should be used in English andused in 2 versions (members’ choice):

the standard version which simplysays ‘Member of Railteam’an additional version where this ispreceded by the member’s name, ie.‘DB, member of Railteam’.

This version is designed mainly formembers already using anownership/partnership logo, or variouslogos on their material.

Exception: TGV will use a special version on theirmaterial. Because of French legislation the tagline istranslated into French.

Minimum SizeThe Mark has been designed to workwell in print or on screen at smallersizes. The minimum size is dictatedmainly by the quality of materials butin any event never reproduce the marksmaller than 12mm across the width ofthe Icon in print or 62pxl on screen.

Sender Marking

In order to ensure that the customer is aware which cooperation partner isparticipating, all Railteam collateral is marked with their logos in addition tothe Railteam logo. To achieve this a partner logo stripe and a highspeedservices stripe are offered. Depending on the application only one or bothmarkings may be used.

Partner Logo Stripe

The partner logo stripe depicts all logosof the associated Railteam partners. Itis always used in conjunction with theRailteam logo and is shown on allRailteam collateral. Depending onapplication and environmentalrequirements either the horizontal orvertical version is being used. Only inexceptional cases may the two versionsbe substituted by a differentarrangement.

60% black: on white and lightbackgroundnegative white: on dark backgroundThe use of colored logos is notpermitted.

Standard stripeThe here shown stripes are standardversions. Since they will not serve allformat width or height requirementsmay the spacing be adjusted to yourneeds.

High Speed Services Stripe

This stripe depicts all high speed services of all Railteam partners. Ideally it willbe used in conjunction with the partner logo stripe and the Railteam logo onRailteam collateral. Depending on application and environmental requirementseither the horizontal or vertical version is being used. Only in exceptional casesmay the two versions be substituted by a different arrangement.

ExceptionIn certain instances is only the highspeed services stripe in use. Forexample on Railteam informationdisplays. In such instances is the ICElogo replaced by the DB brand. Allexceptions must be approved.

Graphic element

A colored graphic element is beingused to support the Railteamcommunication. It suggestsmovement and speed. The elementcan be used in context with coverdesigns and to display keywords inmultiple languages.

The graphic element is exclusively usedwith horizontal stripes. It may vary inheight and width depending onavailable space.

Colors

The identity color distalblueaccentuates the elegance of theRailteam appearance and highlightsit. Distalblue as an identity colorwarrants to concord with the housecolors of the cooperation partnerswell. Additionally, a complementarycolor palette has been determined tosupport the identity color and toelevate the Railteam communication.

Distalblue is the identity color of theRailteam cooperation and is being usedas a logo and plane color. Text can beset in this color as well if it is placedwithin the colored graphic element.

The colored graphic element consists ofstripes and gradients in secondarycolors. The color Pantone7461 ishighlight color for copy and headlines.

Typography

Typography plays an important role for the visual identity of Railteam.To emphasize the visual identity of Railteam font ‘Praxis’ has been selectedas a house font. It is the font for all print media.

‘Praxis’—Flexibility through varietyThe multitude of typefaces available inthe group allow for design flexibility oftitles, headlines and body copy.

Screen applicationsFor internet or presentationapplications (such as PowerPoint) aswell as general screen applications thefont used is ‘Verdana’ instead of‘Praxis’. ‘Verdana’ is a standard fontused by all computer systems.
